I'm an Illonggo and I couldn't sleep 😂 but I think it's because I only heard the "Ili Ili Tulog anay, wla diri imo nanay" part so I assumed that it was a song about a ghost telling you "Your mother is dead, so you should also sleep"..... never heard the full lyrics. 😅

Memories. I was 6 years old when my Mother used to sing me this. She knew she will not last long because of cancer that's why she sang and recorded her voice. When she died, Her cellphone will automatically sing this at night because it was set as alarm tune. That is when I am at bed already.

I sang this song to my Lola while she was on her death bed two years ago, it was the last time I ever saw her alive. She could barely move but she used all her strength to pet my hair while I sang to her. She died in the fall and always loved the colors of the leaves. She died without ever seeing them again so whenever I see those colors I feel her with me and I sing this song.

Ilonggo is not a dialect just like our kapampangan language. We have a museum in our school and we actually have our own script which is called "kulitan" and a dictionary for kapampangan. Please do research on dielects and language. Mali kase tinuro sa atin nung elem tayo. Tagalog is our national language na common na ginagamit but we have several other languages in the philippines. Here in pampanga we have a dialect also. We know if someone is from the other barrio because of their accent and the words they use. Example : the word "here" in guagua, pampanga, I hear old people say "keti". People from san fernando pampanga use "keni" Guagua: atiu na la keti San fernando: atsu no keni Tagalog: nandito na sila ^ i think that's how dialect is. We use different words but it has the same meaning and we still understand it. Samantalang sa language naman... hindi mo maiintindihan totally dahil unrelated or hindi kumuha or nag derive ng words coming from them. In short magkaibang mag kaiba.

Hello,when I found this song I decided to sing it to my little brother when we were at Manila with my relatives,my mother and aunt went out to buy food for us and so I had to stay in a room with my little brother,I remembered this song and since it was very late he needed to sleep so since it can be sing my any female relative or a sister I decided to sing this for him to fall asleep and it worked.As an ate(older sister) I love singing this to my little brother to sleep while my mom or older sister is not with us,this song also makes me sleep whenever I’m having nightmares,I’m not Ilonggo or anything but this song is one of my favorite lullabies now ^w^

A dear Filipino friend sent me a link to another version of Ili ili tulog anay to arrange for cellos in a collection of lullabies from around the world that I am compiling, but whilst looking for inspiration for my arrangement for three cellos, I found this version, which I love. Shasha Clemente has a truly beautiful voice, the pitching of every single part is excellent and both male and female singers have wonderful timbre to their voices. Although I shall keep my arrangement in the original three beats per bar, there are some excellent touches in this performance, which nevertheless retains the simplicity a lullaby demands and here ends on a positive note.

My niece can't sleep without this song, continuous playing until she fell asleep. This is her pampakalma and pampatahan since she was 4mos old, shes 6mos old now and she really love this song especially this version. ❤️ PS. While im typing this shes starting to fell asleep then suddenly the song stop and there she goes started to cry. 😂

this makes me cry a lot i’m from bacolod and when i was just one month old my mother left me to go to work in dubai so my grandma always sings this to me and until now i still remember it and my mother always couldn’t come to my birthday and every year she hardly stays with me for 2 months and last year she said she would come to my birthday so i was really excited but then on my birthday i waited a whole day asking my aunt when my mother is going to come but then at that moment she called us saying she couldn’t come this month and then i took the phone from my aunts hand and while crying i talked to my mom so i waited and waited for her to come back but she never came now it is 2020 but my mother didn’t come yet because of the corana virus and i know nobody cares and i don’t expect you to like this comment but if you do thank you 😊 thanks for spending your time reading this comment
