I like how the guy is working in a wood shop using power tools wearing flip-flops or being barefooted with no safety glasses or hearing protection. So much for personal safety.

Hell yeah it's dangerous and yes it's a one motor powered machine. Some of them have like a drill/lathe on the side too. I wouldn't use it ever (it might be illegal where I live tbh) but all saws are dangerous.... they just have to be very aware of their environment.

As far as Asia goes, this is a safe workshop. In most Asian workshops, you won't see anyone using safety glasses/ear plugs/even footwear for that matter. To beat the heat, the clothing of choice is normally a sleeveless vest and either cotton shorts or cotton trousers and no footwear to save it from the sawdust or flip flops. Yet somehow, it seems to work out ok for them because they all still have 10 fingers and 10 toes so 🤷‍♂️.

First off, using the joiner with a table saw running right beside it was very stupid and dangerous. Secondly, this really wasn't that great of quality. I guess it would suffice but it seems like speed was prioritized over quality.
@theflyingspaghettimonster3252

As Tom mentioned, both machines are running off the same motor, which is a common way for machines to be built in Asia. Surprisingly, I've never seen a carpenter who has lost a finger or been injured seriously. I have no clue how we manage this considering workshop safety is nothing compared to what you guys in the west would follow. Everything here is about cost, if something can be done cheaper in a slightly more risky way, that's the way everyone is going to go. WRT the quality, completely agree with you & Tom, no carpenter worth his salt would want to be caught dead selling this piece of junk.

SO many unnecessary mistakes and bad ideas! Just looking at the drawers: the weight of any amount of stuff stored inside the drawers will make the bottom panels fall out, since they're just 1/8" MDF, held in place by brads. Also, mounting the drawer slides before installing the drawer bottoms means that if the angles of the side pieces change even slightly when the bottoms are being installed, the slides will go out of true and will bind when being used. The proper way to do this would be to cut dadoes all the way around the side pieces, and have the bottom panels inset into them, but even if they wanted to go for a more ghetto method, all they had to do to prevent both of the problems was to use thicker bottom panels, fasten them from the drawer *sides* into the edges of the bottoms, and install the slides afterwards. And for chrissakes: use a framing square while joining-up drawer sides! It's impossible for even a good carpenter/cabinetmaker to get perfect 90-degree angles by sight, and maintain that when fastening. And that doesn't even begin to address the bigger issues like -- how many people can obtain 2x12" lumber for side rails?! -and joining them to the corner posts with little angle brackets isn't going to prevent the rails from wracking and creaking, and so on. As DIY projects go, this is among the worst I've ever seen.

Totally agree with you on all the points. Lol A part of me died inside seeing the way those drawers were constructed (also i feel personally validated because nothing I've ever made wobbles like those drawers, holy cow!) and the installation of those slides but.... maybe at their scale/ price point, it isn't practical to spend the extra time. It's all nails / no glue so maybe the drawer slides will pull everything into some kind of alignment. I can't get over how out of square those drawers were and they nailed the front and back panel of the drawer to the sides. You should always fasten the sides to the back and front when using fasteners to get the strength of the fastener and to prevent it from being pulled apart over time but it works. I have my doubts about longevity though.
