Walking my dog in the snow. Feb. 2019

Hi! Friends! ... Welcome to winter wonderland! Fun! fun! The perfect time of the year for children to build snowmen, and play in the snow! ... My favorite winter pass times are cleaning up snow, and rubbing my hands together to warm my fingers, while complaining about the cold, ice, and snow. Ha! Ha!
... As the seasons change in this area it is like living in a different place with each season. Winters can reach deadly temperatures down to -30 degrees F below zero. In the summer it can be very humid, while the temperatures can be close to 90 or 100 degrees F.
You can see the difference from the last video I uploaded in Spring time walking with Bear on the same trails down to the creek. Hum.m.m... Maybe that wasn't a rubber snake I found, it might have still been hibernating. Ha! Ha!
... I made this video about 5 days ago, and it has snowed about another 5 inches since then. It is 24 degrees F. today, and sunny, an very bright outside. Bear and I would look like movie stars if we were to wear our sunglasses and go for our walks today. Ha! Ha!
... Yea! ... There is hope for Spring to arrive! The sun is getting higher in the sky, and the days are getting about 3 minutes longer each day. So hopefully the snow should melt by the end of March. LOL! ... Maybe April. Ha! Ha! ... I suppose that isn't really funny, but on the bright side I won't have to swat mosquitoes for a while. Ha! Ha!

Hi! Suzy! Thanks for stopping buy and watching my video! And thank you for your nice comment! .... It has been a long feeling winter this year. Winter started early, so we didn't have much autumn weather to adjust to the cold and snow. When I was a young man I use to work outside in the cold a lot. I am not sure if it toughens a person up, or just makes me ache more. LOL! The colder it gets, the more layers of clothes I put on. When it is below zero I probably weigh an extra 25 pounds from the heavy warm clothes. Ha! Ha! .... When it gets below zero F. I put a pair of my socks on Bear so his feet don't start to hurt. He looks a bit silly, but Bear don't care. Because the socks are cool looking. They have "Snap On Tools" on them. Ha! Ha! .... I look at our walks as my exercise program, and the cold weather gives me something new to complain about. Ha! Ha! I hope you are all doing good, and having a good week. Hi! Elden! ... You are right. It sure does get cold here. burr burr! We do kind of get use to it ... to a point. LOL! But then when summer comes I melt. Then about the time my body gets use to the heat of summer the weather turns cold again. We have to own all kinds of different clothes to wear as the seasons change. ... It is hard to wear a speed o swimming outfit during the winter! ... Oh! my! ..Now that would be a sight Not! to see! Ha! Ha! LOL! Hi! Mary and Harry! .. Thank you for your nice comments! ... The change of seasons is nice, and snow gives everything a fresh new look. Here our winters, and colder weather, usual starts around November, and the warmer Spring time weather usually comes sometime in later April. Some years colder weather can be a bit shorter. Colder type weather here can be about 6 months out of the year. With warmer days mixed in now an then. I use to live about 150 miles south of here in southern Wisconsin. The colder weather there was a few weeks less on each end of the season. The further south a person goes, a few thousand miles or so in the southern areas, it stays really warm with no snow. The winters there are nice, but those areas can get well over 100 degrees F in the heat of summer. I have lived in this area my whole adult life, so if I was to move way south I would probably melt in the summer. Ha! Ha! .. Bear stuff... You are correct. Bear's father was a Black German Shepherd, and Bears mother was a Black Labrador, with a little Husky mixed in. My son had Bears mother. She had 11 puppies, and Bear was one of them. I have know Bear since he was born. I use to help take care of the puppies. Bear picked me out. As soon as he could see, and walk he use to sit on my foot, as to say he wanted to go home with me. At 5 weeks old I took him home with me. He has been my side kick ever since. Way back in my videos I think there is a video of tiny Bear the day I brought him home here. Bear will be 8 years old on March 16th. You are also correct about Bear having his own personalty. He is still a high energy guy even though he is getting older now. He is a big part of my life. He lives in the house with me, and I pet him, and talk to him a lot. Bear knows a lot of words. So when we go for our walks I tell him which trail to take. ... But he can be like a small child, so that don't mean he will always do as I say. Ha! Ha! When he see's a deer he will woof! woof! and want to zoom off, and go, and play with it. That's not a good idea. Ha! Ha! I think his tracking, and high energy he has come from his mix of breeds. The breeds in him are all high energy, tracking type of dogs that like to zoom. ... Holy cow! I can usually tell when baby Sasquatches are around because I can hear them coughing up hairballs! Ha! Ha! .... And here I thought those were deer foot prints in the snow. Ha! Ha! .. Ha! Ha! I see you were out riding Alligator's again. Cool! Bet that is really fun. You sure are a Tarzan kind of a Big Foot guy! Ha! Ha! I have never rode on an Alligator. I will have to try that sometime, sounds kind of like fun. ..... But I have mud wrestled big Snapper Turtles down in the swamp. It sucks if they latch on to you. Because they won't let go! ... Aww, I´m jealous because of all that wonderful snow! I love snow and winter like you know. But we don´t get any snow over here and the winters are not really cold and short, unfortunately. We have plenty of snow here, and we would be more then happy to trade you a whole bunch of snow for some warmer weather. Ha! Ha! ... It snowed a whole bunch more here last night. The snow started off as rain, then turned into snow. So the new snow is very icy, and heavy, and slippery. The snow made the roads so slippery that the people on television told people to stay home and do not drive. .. With the new snow now it is as deep as Bear is tall now. Bear don't like to walk in the snow when his feet don't touch the ground. LOL! This winter seems to be a long winter. With the most snow at one time that I have seen here in a long time. ....It is 13 degrees F and windy this evening, and there are blizzard warnings out now. Burr burr cold. A lot of the heavy snow is frozen to the trees and electric power wires. Many tree branches have broken, and thousands of people have lost their electric power. My electric has been staying on so far. Hopefully the trees will be strong enough to withstand the wind tonight. I hope you have a great week! Your friends, Mike, Bear, Kitty, and my whole family.

Really loved sharing your recent walk in the snow … Sure is a winter wonderland with all that snow, how the forest looks so different and pretty with all the snow on the trees! It is a wonder you and Bear didn`t get lost with all those trails, but know how Bear is very clever especially when he gets the scent of different animals : ) you certainly have been getting lots of snow … the weather patterns are of extreme lately, very cold and icy where you are and so very hot and humid where I live, I am really looking forward to cooler weather, maybe you could send me some of yours to cool things down and I will try to send you some of ours to melt your snow! : ) Bear is keeping you good and fit with the walks Mike and would help to get your circulation going, but sure need warm boots and warm clothing. Hi! Angeline! Thank you for watching my video! And thank you for your nice comments! ... I agree the snow is pretty on the trees. Especially when it first falls and everything is fresh looking. The trails Bear an I walk on are mostly on the high ground. The trails on lower ground with the swamps go way out into the forest, and can be a lot more difficult to walk on. The high ground trails we walk on are easy for me to clear the snow off of with my snowblower. Otherwise the deep snow is to difficult for me to walk in. .... I find it amazing how Bear can smell the different animal foot prints. That is why I walk him on a leash. Otherwise he would be zooming after other animals, and probably get into trouble. The deer can kick really hard, and would hurt Bear if he bothered them. ... I would be glad to trade you some snow for warm weather. Ha! Ha! The weather is unstable here too. It can change quickly, and make quick forming storms. I don't remember it being that way years ago. ... Living here a person does need all different types of clothing as the seasons change. When I walk Bear in the below zero F. temperatures I probably weigh 25 pounds more because of all of the extra clothes I wear to keep warm. Ha! Ha! It was a warmer day when I made this video. Think it was around 18 or 20 degrees F. When it gets below zero F. I have to put a pair of my socks on Bear's feet so his feet don't hurt from the cold. He looks kind of silly with his socks, but he is ok with it. I suppose because the socks say " Snap On Tools" on them! Ha! ha! It is 21 degrees F. and sunny today. Tomorrow it is suppose to snow about another 5 inches. Cleaning up snow, and walking Bear is good exercise, and gets my heart pumping. I do take lots of warm up breaks so as not to over do it. After cleaning up snow a hot cup of coffee sure hits the spot. I had peanut butter cream flavor today. I have to watch it because Bear likes peanut butter, but I din't think he need any caffeine for energy! Ha! Ha! ....I hope you and your family are all doing good, and having a nice week. Hi! Elden! Thank's for watching my video! and thanks for your nice comments! ... It didn't really take me to long to make the trails. I use my big old snowblower. I put it is first gear, and it goes right along by itself at walking speed. Then I just guide it, and follow it. I like to make the trails because winter can be so long here, and if the snow gets to deep I can't walk with Bear. Right now the snow is almost up to my knees, and I can't walk in it very far. Today it is 31 degrees, and lightly snowing. It is suppose to become a rain. ice, snow mix later today and tomorrow. So I Bear and I will need our ice skates to walk then. Ha! Ha! Actually when it is to icy I put metal cleats on the bottoms of my shoes to get traction on the ice. We sure have to put up with all kinds of different weather here. Now the days are getting 3 minutes longer with each day, and the sun is getting higher in the sky. So it won't be long now and the snow will start to melting. wow!!! thats lot of snow.. wow.. well we do get that like that too.. but with the sun out it looks better.. aww your dog Bear is adorable and beautiful. i bet you enjoy walking with Bear.. my Boo Boo does not like to walk in the cold weather.. her paws get too cold and she wont walk or cant walk.. so no winter walks..

Hi! .. Thank's again for your nice comments! .. When it gets below zero F. Bear's feet get to cold also. His front feet seem to take the cold better than his back feet. So I put a pair of my socks on his back feet. I was surprised he left the socks on his feet. He looks kind of silly wearing socks that say "Snap On Tools" on them. Ha! Ha! Bear is 7 and 1/2 years old now. My son's dog had puppies, so I have had Bear since he was 5 weeks old. He is a mix of Black Lab, Black Shepard, and I think there is some Husky in him too. I call him my neighborhood special. Ha! Ha! He is always by my side, or laying on my chair when I want to sit down. Ha! Ha!
