Ilio is a little before my time but he was a good (real) wrestler,. I love this era. It needs to make comeback.
I remember watching Hans Schmidt doing TV studio matches in Cleveland in the 70s. Bulldog showed up often as well. Hans had these bumps all over his body, like ping pong balls under his skin. You can see it in this video as well, but it got worse over time. Always wondered what condition that was.

I used to see him in Flint and Detroit. I saw him wrestle Lou Thesz one night. Both those guy could wrestle. I learned a few yrs ago Bulldog Brower was a real good wrestler in the 1950s .
It looks like Bruno was able to reverse his hair loss from the time this match happened until he got his run as WWWF champ.

If Sanmartino hadn't cheated and stayed in the corner like the ref told him to do, we could have had a clear winner in this match. No bigger geek in pro wrestling than him. Because of that I'd give the win to Bulldog and Schmidtty.

Bulldog wrestled Bruno many times for the WWWF title in the 60"s......As late as 1979 he wrestled Bob Backlund for the WWWF title. A long career indeed!.....the 'One Man Riot Squad.'.........Fine job!!!!!!!......Hans was a Canadian and a distinguished member of the RAF in WWII......he fought the Germans. Kudos!!!!!

I was going to say the fans who came for this match didn't get much for their money, but the announcement at the end told us that this was the final fall of a 2-out-of-3-falls match. I hope the first two falls were better than this. They barely touched each other, all the kicks and punches looked really weak, especially Brower's.

Samartino and The Bulldog were great - they sure weren't gym-rats. Today's wrestling would benefit from having some guys like them involved. They're more fun to watch - more primal and brutal and genuinely so, not hamming it up (ok, well sometimes! But sometimes not!).
