I think the best change to the Domains of Dread 5e made was to make them separate dimensions, rather than countries connected on a continent, which doesn't seem quite as mystical in my mind.

I prefere the Core as it was. I think the low magic and gothic horror is more effective for horror adventures then a mystical, fantastical and high magic world. At least for a long term campaing. For short and focus adventures, a Nightmare Reality and separte domain can work fine.

So, Master Doji was once an unstopable emperor, and is now a tumor in a larger brain (Which is' admitedly, under his influence), a Brain tortured with his own Probe in a quest that would likely get him removed if The Dark Powers had any desire to change their status quo.

Master Dorji was my attempt to give the Ilithid God Brain a gothic and tragic background. I like the Lovecraftian and incomprehensible nature of the God Brain as a cosmic horror. Still, it is hard to think of a crime an Elder Brain could have committed to attract the attention of the Dark Powers, and I always felt that it should have a more tragic backstory and more relatable torment.

Also, Bluetspur to Timor? Quite the jump, though the Hive Queen is something of an eldritch horror too. I hope Lamordia and Nova Vassa get their time to shine at some point, as I know Darkon will be an important point of conclusion. You can count the amount of times Azalin has tried to shake things up!

To be honest I was in doubt if I should return to our Sea of Sorrows navigations or explore another domain outside of the core. But Timor and Paridon would be great to cover as well. I love Lamordia and Nova Vaasa, can't wait to get there also. Darkon and Azalin will be probably the longest video to make!

@@docnecrotic I read your idea on the blog, it is a great take and an interesting idea of the supreme hive mind created to conquer wildspace. It's indeed much more connected to Spelljammer. As I was creating the version for Dreadspace, I thought it needed a more gothic and tragic story to justify his prison and torment in the mists, and connect him to the demiplane of dread.

Thank you for your detailed video on the most squeezable of the darklords. Has the black feather Society thought of doing any clusters maybe dealing South American based areas or other neglected areas? Have you thought of creating other clusters based on less represented time periods? Looking forward for where you are going next.

Hi Brian! We have a few ongoing projects, some very similar to Dread Space, with a crossover of Ravenloft and other D&D settings, and other projects more Ravenloft-related. We have discussed the idea of a cluster of domains inspired by the landscape, myths, and folklore of America [south, central, and north] inspired domains, but it is still in an early stage of development. It would be an interesting idea to set the domains of the Core in a navigation era and enter into contact with another core/continent, full of domains of different cultures and horrors.

I thought about that. There is so many Puritan horror that could fit for North American as well as Native American horror that could work (also other seas etc). I look forward in seeing what your group comes up with.@@HouroftheRaven

@@brianpratt3224 You're making me wish I didn't take Dawnsveil from DM's Guild. That domain was a hodgepodge of atrocities seen in early Jamestown settlement, the witch hunts of Salem and various other stories of early Colonial America.

Good luck handling the reboot versions of Ivana and Ivan. I get that Ivan is a very problematic character, but why turn Ivana one of Ravenloft's (arguably) most tragic DLs into an asexual who isn't interested in love?

Yeah... While I admire your dedication, I just wonder if you enjoy making those extra 5th videos. Interest in 5Eloft seems to be waning, but I think it's the case for all of D&D though. But hey, at least you don't have too much more to go... for now.

@@docnecrotic they are not as fun as videos from the classic lore, but there are a few with interesting concepts that are interesting to talk about. I left the ones that I'm not a big fan for last, so now it's Borca, and after Timor we shall adress Kartakass... Then, we shall resume our regular travels through classic Ravenloft, until we reach a domain that also has 5th edition versions.
