Naick really deserves full marks for his cooking skills, his cooking looks delicious! Even though parking is fined, your optimism makes everything better! Congratulations, you finally arrived in Los Angeles, I hope a director will ask you both to shoot a movie! I believe that one day you will become famous internationally, thank you very much for sharing! 👍😍🙌

There are state parks where you can park and buy a spot right on the beach. There is also a pass, $35/yr that lets you park in the national forests all around L A (adventure pass) big 5 sells them

Welcome to L.A.! You should check each city's website for overnight parking permit. It's usually a few dollars and can be picked up at the local city hall.

Doesn't it have to be posted on the sign permit parking for rvs? Other cities like Marina Del Ray post no overnight parking for Rvs. I think they can fight this ticket.
@FEARNoMore

@Laura Atwood Yeah, I mean they clearly have foreign plates so I think the city of Santa Monica is just relying on foreign visitors being fearful of penalties or even deportation. They figure they wouldn't fight it & it's easy money. Very similar to what Mexico does. But I guess maybe $73 isn't worth the fight on such a big trip. lol ✌

I promise to learn from your example! Currently this is not an issue as our camper van has been stricken by a faulty transmission in Texarkana, Texas en route from Canada to Mexico. Today is day 8. We are in a Holiday Inn near the interstate. Luckily we are safe and comfortable; the people here are lovely, but we are very much looking forward to getting back on the road. Cheers!

Sorry to hear you were fined for overnight parking. My experience with iOverlander is many of the parking/camping reviews posted there are either outdated or incorrect. Remember it's all voluntarily provided by unverified user testaments and which may unknowingly exclude specific local ordinances introduced before or after they left their reviews.

In an area where houses are selling at $17m, the cops tend to take care of the residents quite keenly. I can almost guarantee that cops in a place like that, which is also very pretty regularly check the apps used by van lifers and travellers. They will use any bylaw to discourage or move along people they regard as undesirable. And if you’ve spent that much money for a house, a lot of that price is for the view, they want to see the beach, not a wall of camper vans

@@NaickKim Beautiful and Perfect! You have to hit one of the famous buffets in Vegas. Many of the van travelers don't do it and it's one of the best things about vegas. Some of them have all you can eat lobster. I believe there are lobster and Alaskan snow crab leg buffets in Southern California also. Please do it to celebrate your winnings. I would love to see the video of you both eating at a great buffet. Alaskan crab legs and lobster is so good.

@@yaowsers77 Starting in November through February Vegas gets many days in the 50s and nights in the 30s. I guess not too cold but chilly for walking around. In this period for 4 months it's in the 50s to low 70s during the day, so this would be the best time to go to avoid heat like 90s and 100s. I like temps in the 70s to low 80s.

You can still fight the ticket since it is not posted on the sign and readily apparent. The fact that you are visitors from another country may help your case. If you show up to court you can fight the ticket. Or just don't pay. lol depending on how long they give you to pay and how long you are here in the U.S., just don't pay. Santa Monica can't reach you outside the U.S. haha Good luck.

Agreed. -- I follow a few Van life channels and this is among one of my fav's -- BUT I don't get the "surprise" about a ticket -- do the homework - pay for a permit -- like a previous poster pointed out -- folks with multi-million dollar homes (who pay dearly for the view...) and likely employ a lot of folks... don't want campers on their street. I live in a way more modest neighbourhood in Canada and we definitely discourage people who want to camp out or use our street as long term vehicle storage... My two cents worth.
