Here's the link to the letters that you can send to your Representatives and Senators: www.buymeacoffee.com/VintageJim/e/115580 . Here is the link to the NPS web page about photography and filming permits. Note that they use the Golden Gate Bridge as the featured photo in needing a permit: www.nps.gov/aboutus/news/commercial-film-and-photo-permits.htm

Thank you so much for this video, Jim. I will be sure to download/rewrite the letters and send them. We have a family trip to Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Banff planned for this summer. As of right now, I'm planning to film (super low-impact, of course) and edit as I always have - and then lock the videos away, offline, until we overturn this violation of our freedom. Thanks again!

Thanks so much. Since making tis video, i have learned that there is a bill to address this issue stalled in the Senate's Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. It's called the FILM Act and was sponsored by Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming and co-sponsored by Senator Cynthia Lummis also of Wyoming. Most people do not understand that this requirement extends to all federal lands i.e., National Forests and BLM Land. Hopefully the FILM Act can make it out of committee and be passed soon!

Thanks for also covering this topic! Look up the "Film Act" that is currently sitting in committee that is our current best option already in the works to get this fixed sooner rather than later. It needs to get out of committee so it can go to a vote and hopefully passed and signed into law.

@@VintageInsightPhotography learned some more information on the film act having been rolled into AORA and looking up possibly be headed to a committee vote on 3/30. Working on getting that information out to a larger audience but still working out some details.

@@primalmoments I don't think it's gone to Congress yet for a vote. Hopefully they'll pass it before or on the anniversary date of AORA.

That’s encouraging news about the Newstate Nomads arrangement. Maybe the situation isn’t so dire.

I was both surprised and encouraged!

No, it is not encouraging. Sounds like they have worked out a deal with the Park Service to provide videos SPONSORED BY THE PARK SERVICE, to be THE alternative to small creator videos.

Thanks for posting an update. So you are saying that the nomads you mentioned are doing their videos with the blessings of the NPS? Wonder if they have it in writing.
@VintageInsightPhotography Жыл бұрын
I believe they have it in writing. So far each park has waived the permit filing fee. There might be a viable workaround that I’ll be exploring. The NPS says if the video is being made for a travel and visitors bureau, there’s no permit needed. I’ll be contacting the local and state travel agencies before selecting National Parks or other federal land.
@PatriciaDavidsonPhotography Жыл бұрын
@@VintageInsightPhotography Okay, how interesting. So strange a travel and visitor bureau can get a pass when most likely they have a budget for that sort of thing. There really needs to be some consistency. I'll definitely be looking at your letters to send to my representatives.

@@PatriciaDavidsonPhotography I do believe the letters will help. For us, I'll be contacting the local t&v bureaus before traveling to a national park.

Thank you, Jim, for suggesting the letter writing campaign and creating the sample letters. I had the opportunity to visit 12 national parks this past summer and posted short videos of each on my KZbin channel, Take the long way home with Pat and Linda. I initially posted these videos as a way for our family and friends to keep track of us during our 2.5 month long RV trip. I have just 24 subscribers, so I certainly don't make a cent with my uploads, but since KZbin is a for profit entity, my measly 12 videos are considered commercial submissions. Thankfully, I posted these videos prior to the appeal verdict being communicated, but I am still seeing crimson red about this permit requirement. I would hope the powers that be at KZbin, Facebook, Twitter and Tic Tock would join the fight, as they have the bandwidth and $$$ to sue and push this all the way to the Supreme Court, if needed. Our government is overreaching once again and they will not stop until they completely control what we can say and do. (Sound familiar to another governmental body?) We need publicity and this attempt to tread on our freedom of speech needs to be shouted from the mountain top - just like their latest attempt to ban gas stoves! United we must stand! Thank you again.

Keep up the great work informing us of our obligation of controlling government officials in their zeal to tax the public in their desire to make commercial profit.
