The problem isnt the honest homeless people that are out on there luck, those people aren't shown in these videos. Do you honestly think honest sober people are gonna camp around a bunch of druggies.....the problem is the drug addicts and people living off of the system, camping because than they have money for drugs or/and alcohol. They have made the choice, and now are using our tax payers money to fund there habits.. and they are upset that they dont have the normal needs meet, because of there decisions to be homeless..the problem is they think they are entitled to whatever they want. Even though we blue collar workers have had to pay for everything ourselfs.. including there needs in our taxes... so lets say your neighbor decides he wants to do a bunch of drugs and cant afford rent so he pitches a tent in front of your house, you gonna let him? No???? Why not???your part of the problem than.. But if you really think for a second and honest sober homeless person is gonna camp around a bunch of drug addicts and alcoholics than you are obviously naive and dont understand people. When i was homeless, i subconsciously stayed away from people or camps like that. We are enableing the bad behavior and choices by allowing these people to camp just hudreds of feet away from where children play and Were schools are at. I hope you feel safe having your kids in public school, since your so concerned about the homeless over our own children... he sure is brother, Amen. I’m homeless in Atlanta rn. The sides have been chosen, Jesus and God the Father will send all these people where they belong if they DO NOT REPENT, forgive them for now because the punishment is so MASSIVE brothers. I am here to start a revival, the last one was 1902. I am also here to become the most well known, famous, popular preacher/pastor of all time and let me tell you I do not care about being well-known, being famous or being popular. I only care about God/Jesus and what he thinks of me so I give all the being well-known, all the fame, all the popularity and of course all the GLORY to God because I have no interest in it anymore because I have the Holy Spirit and it all belongs and has always belonged to God, Amen. I will never give up and all of you that read this don’t give up. This is our time baby, make sure you all look up The Sinners Prayer, basically any version will do it’s up to you and mean it more than you have ever loved anyone, more than you’ve ever loved yourself, more than anything you have ever said and make sure you say it out loud even if you’re by yourself and God will know instantly because he sees your heart and all of your innermost being at all times and he will know that you mean the prayer your saying and God’s Holy Spirit will enter you and that is God’s actual Spirit like we all have our own Spirits and because the Holy Spirit is in your heart completely, Jesus and God the Father are in your heart completely as well it’s impossible for them all not to be. They are all in your heart brothers and Sisters and in my heart completely as well. He will never abandon you no matter how much it feels like he has, he is with you I promise. We can not lose, we will not lose. It’s hard and rough right now and it’s going to get worse and worse as time goes on but remember we are with God and people of the world hate us, they hate me as well I promise you all, but they actually hate all the good they see in us and that is in us witch Jesus/God is the complete source of all good and all love and they hate it completely just like the Devil/Satan that COWARD. I love you all, please don’t lose hope, people will wake up to God more and more as it gets worse and worse, sadly some won’t ever but remember no matter what happens you have eternity with God and that’s all that matters. On April 7th at 9:30PM I got pushed on the train tracks in Atlanta at the Dunwoody Marta Station and I’m still alive I landed on my feet, someone thought I threw their cell phone that was charging but I actually threw a bottle that was nearby. So trust me brothers and sisters I understand, I understand but stand true and stand fast, we are warriors of Christ and we are never scared to die, we are warriors and we are in a spiritual war witch is way way more serious than a regular physical war and we are on the side that always wins and has never lost in all of eternity, the side of the Most High, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, do you feel that adrenaline, I feel it every time, NOW USE IT! -Alan Lincoln, a messenger and your brother, I love you all. As someone who's from Grants Pass, its very disappointing that this is how the world knows us. As a kid, I remember that there wasnt such a negative attitude towards the homeless. But over the last few years, our local government has cut resources for homeless people. Churches have stopped giving them clothes and food. Homeless shelters have beem forcibly shut down by hoas, and the decriminalization of drugs paired with the lack of actual HELP or therapy for addicts just encourages people to keep shooting up. And if you want to help the homeless, the city uses the cops to intimidate you. I know people who were threatened by police for handing out bottled water to the homeless on a 110 degree day. The worst part is that while I think alot of people disagree with all this, theres also a big homelessness/housing/drug problem that we want solved. We are only about 5 hours outside of San Fransisco and 10 minutes north of Medford, in a beautiful area of wine country, in a increasingly urban area. Our housing prices have SKY-ROCKETED as our town has grown, which is why so many people are on the streets. In addition, Oregon decriminalized drugs a few years ago, but because we are so far south of Portland, they didnt give any of our drug addicts the resources and help they get up there. Drug decriminalizrion is suppoed to be paired with therapy and rehab and medical care for the addicts, or else it just gives them easier access to drugs, which is what happened here. I think theres also a significant number of conservatives (rural oregon is pretty red) who just dont see addicts and homeless as human beings. Overall, its very sad to live here and it scares me. Most americans are ALOT closer to homelessness rn than they'd like to admit and it upsets me that people treat them like their inhuman.
@TLA123y6fАй бұрын
It doesn't take much to become homeless. I was right next to that and it left it's mark. I'm rather shocked that Oregon, a "progressive" state has become so heartless. I used to live in Medford and other parts in Oregon. First they suffer the trauma of becoming homeless. Oftentimes through no fault of their own. Then they're criminalized?? What are they supposed to do?? Disappear themselves?? Finland has solved it's homeless problem. There's a REASON why Finland is considered the happiest country on earth. In more ways than one. I'm becoming increasingly ashamed of being an American.

Its insane to me that the idea of legalizing substances which are destroying society was even considered. I know someone who works in public administration and she says the public help offered comes with term and conditions., be willing to get clean and we will assist you in every way we can..Most of the addict just don't want the help..They want to be getting high daily and still get handouts. They want their own rules and life doesn't work like that.any social development programs exist and the truth is many Americans don't want to be told what to do.

I'm from gp, too. Born in the old hospital on the hill and my son was born in the same hospital room as me before they built the new hospital. But you are 100% right that the people of gp treat anyone they don't like as if they are not human. They all really need to read the bible and listen to the words of Jesus about how to treat people of lower status. Grants Pass gives me nightmares from all the trauma I experienced living there. I will never go back. The police never believe women and laughed off my police report being raped when I was a teenager, saying it was my fault and refused to prosecute. Dhs didn't do anything when the school showed them all the belt marks from my mom beating me before I went to school.

@marinacroy1338 Portland didn't do anything to help addicts either that drug law was passed without any resources to support it. I saw some officials encouraging homeless and drug addicts by selling drugs at trimet stations and handing out drug needles at dhs. Now, they are giving them pipes and needles by schools. It's like they don't want families in Oregon anymore. They are purposely making the problem worse, wasting taxpayer money. People don't seem to put 2 and 2 together about the amount of wildfires and homelessness. Most homeless people don't want to be homeless.

Explain youre homeless and looking to do any work anywhere to start saving money to get off the street. If you do those things and try to be agreeable and pleasant you will not be homeless for very long. You have access to a computer and KZbin. For two years, whip crackers-who also happened to be homeless-congregated on the riverwalk behind my apartment 24/7, using their “art” to break the sound barrier. I couldn’t sleep. Neither could other residents of the assisted living facilities, senior/disabled building, and brain trauma center along this stretch of river. When I argued in support of a Reno whip cracking ban, one of the whip crackers yelled out, “move!!” No. The ordinance passed.

I was actually removed and transplanted to a safe house, literally just a few days before this video was filmed. Because I'd been raped and had other unhoused community members harassing me. Now, I'm currently looking at ending up back out there. Unfortunately because once people find out that you were out there, they no longer want you in their residence. I'm just trying to survive and start over.i have been out there for the better part of seven years . The way you get treated out there is ridiculous and wrong; like Amber said, we are just like everyone else. We are human, too. Taking away people's basic human rights and needs for survival makes it almost impossible. Why is it people won't even try to understand instead of judge? Considering the fact of the matter is that everyone is one paycheck away from ending up out there. I have been doing alot of research (being a college student in sociology, it's what I do ) ; from my perspective, I don't get why the housing first concept hasn't been put in to play here it seems to be a success every where else that has adopted and implemented the program,so why not here. Instead of bickering back and forth like children, why don't we work together to find a solution.

I am so sorry for what you have been thru and continue to go thru. You don't deserve any of this. It's incredible, I was out there for 9 months, then when I finally got into a place, I too found out that people treat you differently when they hear you were homeless. They don't want to be around you, like we have some sort of disease they might catch!!?!? The shelters are worse than the street! There is an unbelieveabe lack of empathy in this country, add greed, and you end up with a place that can afford to help, they just won't. I am so traumatized that I can barely leave my apartment, and I've been in here since the end of 2018. I have been trying to find mental heath care, but there's no place in Portland that's accepting new patients. I was a successful Interior Designer in 2010, then I found out my husband had been lying to me about nearly everything for a decade. I was destroyed. I went into such a severe depression that I lost everything. My parents are dead, I have no siblings, it's just me. I've tried committing suicide 5 times since I've had my apartment because I have no one and can't find any help, and everyone around me behaves like I have the plague. So, everyone is better off if I'm dead. I have an affordable apartment that someone needs, and I feel awful for being alive at this point. Idk why I keep surviving these suicide attempts, I wish I could give you my place and just disappear, I really do, and I'm so sorry that I can't.

Almost all research on homelessness concludes that drug addiction and mental illness are the result of homelessness not the cause. primary causes of homelessness are. Job loss/temporary employmnet- especially for people in right to work states (non union). Losing a job without immediately starting another job. Not having savings to cover if there is a job loss. No access to transitional assistance or unemployment insurance etc. A large number of people live paycheck to paycheck and work 2-3 jobs. Even working that much. Workers still live under the poverty line. Accident, injury, death, dusability- even though we pay into Social security when we work, the average approval time for a disabled person is 2 years. Supplemental programs like TANiF or disabled adult cash social services payments. TANiF has appointments and 1 missed appointment can get an applicant a 6 month santion. 6 months no cash. Average payment family of 3 typically runs 385.00 per month depending on the state. There is no housing in America that 385 is going to pay housing and basic needs for a family of 3. Single adults average? 150. Per month. In some states that is the daily rate for a hotel room. Both these programs have repay rules. TANiF is paid back if child support starts. Adult disability is paid back from lump sum of Social Security disability approval. There is no free ride in America. Aging out of the foster care system.- this is a huge addition to homeless. Once a foster child turns a certain age they aren't eligible for services. Release from incarceration- America jails 10x more people than any Country in the World. Efforts to reduce jail populations such as decriminalization of drugs, cite and release for misdemeanor or non violent charges and other new laws made to reduce the criminalization of citizens have recently been repealed or revised in California and Oregon. Reverting back to garser penalties. As long as we keep using punitive measures in our Criminal Justice system we will never reduce our jail numbers. People will still come out of jail homeless. We need to look toward restorative Justice and transitioning people into housing from jails. If they were truly reformed they could hit the ground as productive members of their communities. There are other causes. Chronic Child hood abuse and chronic sexual assault or chronic child sex assault. Trafficking and Domestic violence. These all fall in the abused category. Sometimes leaving an abuser means leaving with the clothes in their back and sleeping in the streets. Sleeping homeless is not some fun party. There is no safe place. Shelters have rules that set people up to fail. They are not the answer. I got thrown out of Boulder Co. Shelter in 15 degree weather and snow. Because I shut my phone off at 10:05 pm. 5 min. After lights out. Punitive rules that could have caused me to freeze to death. I can't get the toes back I lost to frostbite. If someone does happen to fall asleep they risk attack, sexual assault, Robery etc. The trauma of never being safe mentally affects people, with little to no treatment centers or long waiting lists for treatment or low income housing lists being 2 year wait to go into a lottery. People start using substances. Easier not to feel than be sober when being attacked or abused. There are several homeless studies that will confirm this. Google UC Davis homeless study or look up the United Nations summary of American homelessness. If your seeking answers and why. Those are 2 studies to start with. @@thesincitymama

I live in Grants Pass and have lived in GP for 40 years. This has only been a problem since the decriminalized of all drugs. This isn’t just a homeless problem, 99 percent of these homeless people are on drugs. They throw their trash everywhere, leave drug needles everywhere, put their pets in danger by doing fentanyl near them. I have personally witnessed more than one overdose in the middle of the day on the sidewalk. I have stepped over piles of human shit trying to get to the post office. My son has seen a guy jacking off in the middle of the day on the side walk. My husband is a plumber and has had to unclog the drains at the parks countless times and guess what’s inside the toilets and urinals! Drug needles, lots of them. Once he went to go work on the toilets at Riverside Park, the restrooms near the playground and there was a guy passed out with a needle still in his arm. Another time he was threatening by a tweaker that was in the park bathroom when he had to ask the tweaker to leave so he can get in the stall to un clog the toilet. The guy became violent and luckily my husband knows how to deal with it. But, it had me thinking, this was in the middle of the day near the playground, what if that was a child going in use those bathrooms instead of my husband? ITS NOT SAFE FOR OUR KIDS! If I could post pictures here of all the drug needles lying everywhere and all the plumbing photos I have taken at the parks I would!! Down the street from my house at 9 in the morning I saw a lady snorting a line of something off someone’s car! It’s fucking BS! The women living in the camps are prostituting themselves to get drugs. I personally have had two family members that were living on the streets and addicted to drugs. You can’t help an addict unless they want to get sober! You can’t trust and addict unless they want to get clean and turn their life around! My niece was living on the streets for five years, she was doing meth, heroine, pot, and alcohol and was homeless. There was no helping her. She overdosed more than 5 times. She almost died several times. She use to get raped by the drug dealers. She use to sleep behind 7-eleven. It’s fucking sad but couldn’t help her until she was willing to help herself first! She cleaned up, got off drugs, she has been sober for 7 years. She has a 6 year old daughter now, works everyday! Got herself an apartment! She is the perfect example of the solution to this problem! Unfortunately, my brother-in law is still on drugs. He has been in and out of jail for 20 years and on meth. I live this shit first hand. Don’t tell me , oh how sad for the homeless, they have done it to themselves and we pay the consequences.

I live in Anchorage Alaska. Because of the rent increase at my apartment 2 years ago, I ended up moving into a rooming house. At first it was disheartening but after arriving I've found this small building a blessing and have thought rooming houses an answer to the homeless population. 32 people live in a small building, with 4 kitchen's, 6 bathrooms and two laundry room. Each person has there own bedroom and a refrigerator in their room. Each room rents for $475 to $700 a month, which includes all utilities and renters insurance. The majority of the people here are on Social security. They provide all the cleaning supplies needed for the kitchen and bathrooms, and one of the tenants does some cleaning. This is nothing more than a very large house where everyone has their own room and they all share 4 kitchens and 6 bathroom. Although this is not a private apartment and it's not as large as one limiting the amount of material things you can have, it is safe. I think that more companies and states need to look into doing this. Instead of trying to find individual housing for each person, having something like this, a large building where they share bathrooms and kitchens would be a wonderful answer to the homeless situation.

I've been homeless 2 or 3 times in my life. People who say that the problem with homelessness is that these people need housing is simply not true. I can assure you, that is NOT the problem. People have been given housing before, and usually after 2 or 3 days they leave where they're being housed at because they don't want to follow rules. Now, I'm okay with people who don't want to follow some rules, because some of these rules are draconian and antiquated. But if you don't want to follow rules, then it is what it is, and you can expect to be kicked out of the housing unit. The problem is not housing. The problem is drugs, plain and simple. That is the real problem. And people are not going to stop taking drugs until they are ready to stop taking drugs. That's the problem, plain and simple. It's not complicated, (unless you have a PhD, and a couple of Master's degrees)

Even Senior Housing is $2,300-$2.500 per month...elderly care facilities like assisted living buildings are $65,000 a year!! My grandfather and great Aunt lived a t the same facility and my grand father's money he worked and saved for was gone before he even passed away...he had Parkinsons disease and my Aunt had to apply for Public welfare for him in his final days so he could have care💔💔💔

I live on the outskirts of Grants Pass and in the rural region around Merlin. I wish that the city would invest in and create programs that help remedy this issue rather than exacerbate it by criminalization. However, those in need have to be willing to help themselves alongside such programs and opportunities. My neighbors and myself have had to deal with the criminal activities of the unfortunate one's whom camp outside the city limits. There are transients that have trespassed, vandalized, stolen, broken in to our stables to sleep, as well as harmed our horses and other livestock. I've been subjected to trash, articles of clothing, and drug paraphernalia found strewn about my property. It has become a norm for me to have to confront people and tend to morning and nightly chores while armed. So I can understand the thoughts of citizens who've become enraged. I live in GP. Went to our park the other day where the little boys play baseball. Saw not one but two drug deals, about 30+ tents, 10 of those tents were less than 10ft from the field, one man had his naked butt hanging out of his tent another was doing something really weird with a large hunting knife. This same park a week ago the kids were subjected to watching a body being removed from a tent that had OD. The baseball league had to bring in portable bathrooms because the bathrooms at the park have been overrun with drug users. It’s not the good that are homeless here but the drug users. Finding needles, feces in the parks were our kids play. Our parks are no longer safe for the people who pay for them. Where are our rights?

Affordable housing and universal income are the top two proven methods to ending homelessness. In a nation of 650,000 homeless Americans, only 26% have drug addiction. Homelessness is not a choice people make...it's the economy stupid! In the last five years the cost of a house has risen 50% plus. High gas and food prices and medical costs are all contributing to homelessness. 83^% of American families are one paycheck away from homelessness, and that is a Precovid statistic! It has gotten worse . Between 2020 and 2022, homelessness increased by 1%. In the Phoenix area, during those same two years, it increased by 23%.. A middle wage income is no longer a guarantee that you will not end up homeless. Wake up, America. You could be next.

Before the lady said it, I already knew that was one of the issues, that some homeless people have pets… They either had pets when they became homeless or they found a homeless dog or cat, while they were homeless, and tried to help them… There should be shelters for people to go to WITH their pets. This housing crisis is not only affecting people but it is affecting animals as well… The number of cats and dogs being killed in shelters around the country is unprecedented… and there are several reasons for that, but pretty high up on the list is landlords that will not allow pets. I’ve been rescuing animals for over 30 years and I’ve never seen anything like it. Yes, people need help, but the animals need help right along with people… All lives matter.

Exactly but suburbanite privileged can't seem to get it through their thick skulls the people are losing their places to live and they have no place to put their animals. If your homeless you shouldn't get pets... just saying. If you can't take care of your self it's extremely irresponsible to add another life to take care of. And for those that already have pets. If you really loved them you'd want them to have the best life possible as well as yourself. And you'd give them to a better home and take yourself to a shelter. Otherwise your just selfish..
@truthbetold43505 ай бұрын
@@Rain_dropshutty You have no idea what you’re talking about… Did you comprehend my comment? I follow rescue groups from all over this country, and just about every country all over the world… I’m thankful for homeless people who have enough compassion to help them when they see them on the streets. You obviously have no clue as to what is happening in the shelters… What’s happening has never happened before, it’s more now than it ever has been before… they are killing pregnant dogs, pregnant cats, puppies, and kittens of all ages. There are not enough homes for them… So when you say, take them to the shelter, they would probably be euthanized. Besides that, even a dog that is owned by a homeless person, that dog wants to be with that person… They do not care that they are homeless, and they don’t even know they are… but people like you feel sorry for them… Instead, feel sorry for all of the animals who don’t even have a homeless person to look after them and are being killed for absolutely no reason other than there are not enough homes for them. Selfish, no… Absolutely not maybe they just had more sense than you and know what would happen to them if they weren’t looking after them… Please get educated on the subject.

Getting Crimea back is a pipe dream. Going back to Minsk Accords and then giving EU membership a more rational approach. There'll have to be partition somewhere. U.S. & others should push for negotiated settlement. If U.S. is paying for it should be able to push for peace, meaning leaving Crimea behind and then pressing Russia to give back most of the rest of it to Ukraine.

These people are too poor to even get a job because they can’t afford to get there or to clean up for one. Then to be made criminals? They spend all their time moving to the next location? It’s absolutely cruel. The rich just want them gone. Out of site out of mind. Cruel doesn’t describe it.

"...The Grants Pass case does not involve an explicit ban on existing while homeless, but the Ninth Circuit determined that the city of Grants Pass, Oregon, imposed such tight restrictions on anyone attempting to sleep outdoors that it amounted to an effective ban on being homeless within city limits..." Aggression, demoralization, and shunning are animalistic behaviors that “humans” choose to anchor themselves to rather than to transcend and replace with compassion, understanding, and, at minimum, actual social solutions that work rather than displace those with mental illness, addictions, or just the misfortunes of a situation beyond their capacity to cope with… There is also a small population (but growing!!!) of people that have given up “having a home” in the common understanding. We choose not to have one, or to live outside closer to nature. It is even becoming impossible to “camp” legally in many areas or be “outside” without a plethora of encumbering rules meant to inhibit and restrict such activities. Actual “freedom” is becoming an issue with the current dysfunctional government we have in place… Thank you for you work and sharing what you learn on this channel...
