I have very clear perferences due to the NW-singers. But i can understand the different perferences for different songs. just for me - Floor kills each song, even Tarja did a great job in same cases - she is a good singer for sure. That is just my feeling. Floor brings me most time almost to tears. Floor is more than just vocals.

Tarja's operatic talent is beyond dispute. Having said that, her talent always seems to hold one at arm's length. Floor envelops you and directly connects to your heart and soul. In that regard, there is no comparison.

This is the first performance I seen Nightwish do of Sleeping Sun. Tampere is really really good too but for me, this has a special place in my heart. I remember sitting down at my computer with tears streaming out, with a feeling of awe as I started to discover this amazing band. It´s been about 11 months now and my love for them has grown even stronger. Amazing band!!! Thanks for the reaction :)

"Sleeping Sun" is a power ballad and the fourth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. It was released as a maxi single with three other songs on 2 August 1999 to coincide with the total solar eclipse that would occur on 11 August.

It is a dream song. Landscaper, simple and melodically impeccable. The "crescendo" of the chorus lifts you up to fly above the clouds in a sunset that never ends.

Love Floor's version but you should check out Tarja's original. Really, really good as well. Also checkout Crewish's version which is really fun and quite good. Crewish was a project by Nightwish's touring crew during the pandemic that covered Nightwish songs in entirely different styles. Their EP actually made it to #1 in Finland.

Sleeping Sun was launched on 11th of August 1999, the same day with the solar eclipse which occurred in part of Europe and Asia that year. Now if you take the exact verses which contain "222" you have: 222 days of light will be desired by the night. coincidence or not, there are exactly 222 days starting 1st of January till August 10th inclusive. - valid for non-leap years. Tarja was the first to sing this song & it was written for the 19.99 eclipse of the sun. To my knowledge, its the only song that was written for the 19.99 eclipse of the sun :)

This song was written to commemorate the 1999 European eclipse of the sun. Tuomas was asked to create this song and he begrudgingly complied. He does not like to have to write a song. He wants to feel it first and create it secondly. Floor really loves this song and was the one who requested it be included in the set list. Beautifully done again JVB! Since joining Nightwish, Floor has "taken over" many of the songs originally sung by Tarja (and is wise enough to stay away from the ones that does not fit her well). This is not one of the ones Floor has taken over. Floor most certainly does not do a bad job, but It not comparable to the original Tarja version. Some songs just fits one of the Nightwish vocalist better than they do others. This song is a good fit for floor, but a perfect fit for Tarja.
