My brother loved your music. He went to every one of your concert when you performed here. Unfortunately he lost his life to Covid in December 2020. This song hits so hard because I know he fought hard to stay. This album; I feel like it was written for him. Lost my childhood best friend to a car accident during our senior year of high school almost 10 years ago. He was just overcoming his battle with depression - We hung out the night before the accident, and it was the happiest I’ve ever seen him. Couldn’t help but think of him when I heard this song. I've been listening to this song nonstop since it released. It makes think of my grandma that died almost 7 years ago. We were really close, and I still can't believe she's gone. I was only a little kid when she went brain dead in the hospital. I had to watch them turn off her life support. I couldn't stay for the whole thing because it was to emotional. Although it's the closing track on the new Fallen Embers album, it's been the first I've heard and really been able to listen to of all the 14 tracks, so far. I'll say this, it's been a long minute since being so excited about listening to an album in it's entirety all by myself and reviewing it. I know I'm just some internet nobody but I've been listening to the music for longer than some of the latest and greatest have been alive. Sure it makes me feel old at times but others it makes me appreciate the wisdom experience brings. I invested into the best sound system I could afford and justify for my ride and then bought the greatest pair of headphones to follow. When I can really listen to the music, appreciate the finite details few may recognize, and take the moments necessary to really take it all in, I'm able to provide a window into my experience as a listener, that I've no doubt a whole helluvalot of people could relate to. This Friday I've given myself 8 hours minimum of just me time to fully dive into this and experience it as I imagine it was intended. It's all subjective for sure but I'm seriously looking forward to it. Worlds an upside-down cluster fuck right now. Finding solid ways to process emotion and even escape for a bit, are necessity for me. It's a fundamental part of my survival. Stay tuned I guess lol.
