Holy shit do I like this mix. That last drop gave me goose bumps. It says an awful lot when an EDM song can balance a really strong vocalist and lyrics, while still maintaining the chord progression and aggressiveness of a heavy drop. This is something artists like Illenium, Seven Lions, Kill the Noise, and Mitis (to name a few of my fav) have absolutely excelled at. In my personal opinion, Illenium and 7L have really changed the scene and creative a momentum behind incredible production level, vocal talent, lyricists and writers, with progressive style builds ups and still holding unto the rawness of powerful drops. That sound is slowly seeping into so many different areas of the entire EDM sphere and I for one love it. I was really impressed with what Nurko did in his Odyssey mix with Ophelia. It was my first time really listening to his style while also noticing his incredible attention to detail with his work. That kind of thing seems almost lost to many listeners but as someone that's been listening to EDM heavily for 25 years, it starts to stand out. I got a similar feeling listening to him as I did the first time hearing Mitis. All I could think was wow, kids incredibly talented. It will be an honor watching the progression of his artistry. This releases just rehighlights that same feeling for me. IMO this just goes to show the next inevitable step for Nurko. I love hearing the influence of Ophelia in his sound and excitedly wait for the next level of progression and what tidbits of great artistry he gains from producers he works with. Very cool.
