The middle helmet design is from the Coach Bob Blackman days ('71-'76). Designed by Brownie Brownfield in collabaration with Carl (forgot his last neme). Carl & Brownie ran the locker room, uniforms, gear and equiptment operations behind the scenes. Yeah, talk about obscure history. I couldn't help it. Sorry.

The middle helmet design/logo is the most memorable for me, but I always thought it would look better with a blue face mask. Go Illini. It’s time to start putting together some winning teams/seasons. It doesn’t matter if the uniforms look good, but the teams don’t represent well. Oskeewow!

The oldest one with just the stripe and number goes back to the Ray Eliot era. Ray Eliot won 3 Big Ten championships and 2 Rose Bowls.
