The fact that it is not over the road means we never have to worry about it ever being torn down because of some widening project.

@@dvferyance same here. It wouldn't be the same and bring me those same childhood memories without being over the road. I remember them making 294 8 lanes in 1994 and would hold us well into future! I guess they meant by future, 2022. And here we are today with a huge mess. I always tell people though I really like what they did with 90.

Probably should have built them all like Dekalb but nothing beats sitting by a window and watching all the cars pass by. At least we can still do that at the Lincoln Oasis for now.

You should do the Lincoln oasis next time you pass it that’s my more local one. But I grew up going to the Hinsdale oasis traveling to my relatives, I miss it so much.

I have one very brief visit of the Lincoln Oasis. If you check back into my Toll Roads and Service Plazas playlist it's in my A Christmas Story Comes Home video. But I would like to do a proper vlog there sometime soon. :-)

Moved recently back to Illinois from Indiana. One of my favorite stops is the Lincoln Oasis. Hoping they leave it alone

@@bernadetteomalley8195 so far Lincoln Oasis is good, though a recent visit (also vlogged) all the closed vendors (Stardust, DQ etc.) was a little sad. Hopefully they re-energize that in the near future.

i love the vibe of this video that it is late and you are the only one there, everything is closed. what time was this approx? this makes me miss the ohare oasis and the way it used to be. i was suprised when i saw teh sbarro sign outside - so i was not as suprised to see it was not functional. dont see those around too much anymore. the ohare oasis also had a small outdoor area like that. i think the heyday of oasis are long gone, whatever was left was ruined by covid. great video, has a good late night vibe.

It was about 10pm. So not super late. But typically only the McD will be open then. Which is standard for most oases. Popeyes appears to be the only one that was not operational. Pretty sure most remaining oases still has a functioning Sbarro actually. There is definetly limited options here compared to the over the road counterparts. Always has been. DeKalb barely been using half their space since day 1. It is fun chilling around these places at night for sure. :-)
