11 games into this.....the patience needed with this Illinois team is not something Carter and Greg can manage, especially with a hot takes podcast. Just relax. The team is going to get better as the season goes on. We are exactly where we have been with Brad at the helm the last 5 years. Use the break to take a step forward, and win the Big Ten.

Greg’s favorite thing to do after an Illinois game win or lose is talk about how the Illini fail in whatever narrative of the day. That’s the schtick. I mean after the Tennessee game the recap is 80% this Illini team is awful and at the end Greg and Carter said “Illini fans there is nothing to worry about.” Oh before that, Tre White was the problem with this team… and before that KJ wasn’t a good player and all hail Egor, how did the Illini miss out on Egor and have to take a mediocre player like KJ. Greg, especially, is very bias against the Illini so everyone remember that when watching these entertaining videos. It’s just entertainment and Greg’s takes on the Illini are closer to the Mendoza line than being a hall of fame player.

Mike LaTulip has some pretty good stories about the Braggin' Rights games from his time at Illinois. It's definitely a heated rivalry. It was extra bitter early in Underwood's tenure because Javon Pickett and Jeremiah Tilmon decommitted from Illinois and went to Mizzou instead after Groce was fired. Then Mark Smith transfered to Mizzou after 1 season because Trent Frazier was way better than him.

Teammate shooting struggles continue to really impact his assist totals. I remember you mentioning it earlier in the year also when he had 8-10 assists but was only shooting 3-5 times per game. It still doesn’t make up for his lackadaisical turnovers but it definitely plays into the Ast/TO ratio.

Look guys… Riley is in an aggressive body shaping program. He is gaining weight, adding muscle, and strength. To expect his shot to not be impacted is crazy. I’ve done scientific research in the field of motor control (neuromuscular physiology). It may not happen this season, but Riley will get his shot back. He’s barely 18. Would it be serendipity if the focus on his physique caused him to stay at Illinois? Or would it be the result of a great strategy by team Illini?

I can't speak for all Illini fanbase but as early as I can remember maybe the age of 4 years old (I am currently 63) the bragging right game has always been a much coveted game of the season the history is long and deep and steeped in hard fought games, heated battles and in this game no matter what each teams record are each year the game itself is usually one of the most important games of the year for most Illini fans. No matter how good or bad our teams record is each year this rivalry is the one game of the year Illini fans expect our team to show up for or else your going to tick off your whole fan base and if players that come into don't realize how import this game is to our fanbase they will afterwards if they don't show up to play. Like I said I can't speak for everyone else but it has been my observation over the years that as fanbase this is one of or maybe the most important game of the year some years anyway and if your coming to play for Illini basketball you may want to do your research and know something about the how important the game is to our fanbase. For me personally it is one of the games I look forward to the most every year. I even get a little irritated when I see our plays before a game being interviewed and don't seems to know anything about how import the game is to this to our fanbase and are so casual about it. I would say if you loose any game of the year it better not be that one or at lease you better have battled your butt off show a little remorse if you do loose or else you will probably hear it from the fanbase. We want that bragging right trophy brought back home! This game is called the bragging right game for a reason and it has nothing to do with seasonal records but it is about playing for the pride of the game and to get the prize of the trophy and another year of feeling that sense of pride as we watch our warriors of the hardwood battle it out and bring home the plunder and spoils of the game.

Young loaded team approach has been tried a lot since the portal and older players deep runs are tough. The ceiling ability though….emergence of white/morez more min brickhouse and riley works to get better. riley is not a spot up shooter, but has other ways of scoring and brings effort on d. He missed alot of inside shots as he gets stronger and adapts he will be better

He is a freshman, regardless of his experience in Europe. Also, I'm not convinced some of his throw aways are him. It seems like sometimes, one of the other freshman (or others) did not actually rotate into their position leading to a ball sent nowhere. having said that, your not being harsh!

KJ does care about making mistakes. That is why he was in the gym until 2am after the Tennessee game. He is not AFRAID to make mistakes. Kid is so young and is a winner. Also, why is it so hard to understand that an 18 yo, 9 games in is going to make silly mistakes in a high-pressure game? "He'll play great basketball for 30 minutes and lose his mind for 5." That is youth. Greg, you are drunk. Go home.
