Here I finish dynamic poising the Bunn. This was a steep learning curve for me, and I couldn't quite get it close to "railroad time." However, given the extensive damage to the balance which I could only partially correct, I think this is acceptable. Horizontal amplitude could be a bit higher. Next time I will make a point of polishing these old staffs in the lathe before I install them. This is something I've done before and it tends to boost performance a bit. I didn't this time and sort of regret it, but there's always the next service.
One note that I don't explain properly in the video. At the end of poising I say that I am going to clean and oil the cap jewels. If you watched the assembly video, you'll see that I did this before. However, if you're taking the balance assembly in and out of the watch repeatedly, you will eventually run the jewels dry by dipping the pivot in and out of the oil. If you're doing repeated adjustments it's a good idea to refresh the oil before you finally call it done.
Thanks for watching this series! I've learned a lot, and I will post other interesting repairs as I attempt them.
