Well this is embarrassing, in a good way. I guess. I have had a boatload of requests for the Book of You online class on how to make and keep an illustrated journal. So I am making this course live again. If you are interested you can find out more and buy it here: kelly-s-school-b1d1.thinkific.com/courses/the-book-of-you-making-and-keeping-a-visual-diary

Kelly, is it possible to access this course without paying again? I went back to re-watch it when I started my journal, and it's no longer there.

Hi Sue. I am pretty sure you can just sign in and get going. Keep me posted and let me know how it works. Kelly @@suelutz5364

Great ideas for trying illustrated travel journals for beginners. I get all those things when I travel but then didn't know how to save them or document my memories with them. This was extremely helpful. I now have some fun to relive a few of my trips by opening up that shoebox full of my bits.
@BookandPaperArts7 ай бұрын
Go get 'em, Theresa. Even if that shoebox is from awhile back you will absolutely find some ideas and ways to start those pages growing layer by layer. Keep me posted!

Yea! She's back! Kelly, you have been greatly missed, as always. But it sounds like you had a marvelous adventure and brought back some amazing pics and brochures. Also, loved your little napkins, menus, post cards, etc. I cannot wait to see how this journal pans out. It's so beautiful, what you'd already done, even before you left. Thank you for this little pre finished peek!

Hi Lynn. I am not really quite situated yet - it takes me ages to unpack and put stuff where it goes but - baby steps. Italy was more beautiful than I expected. I have a lot to unpack from my bags and in my heart. 🌻🌻🌼🌼🌷🌷

It is my real pleasure, Roksana. The last two trips I made I found myself at the last minute without a blank book and I just thought, This is goofy. I make books for a living so I made this one and it turned out really well and tons cheaper.

Yes! Not exactly the sexiest of art supplies but I bought one at a supermarket in France as it was all they had and boy did I become a convert. Now I order them online in those 12 packs and have plenty to use and give away. Thanks for touching base!

This video really spoke to me. I have always wanted to be able to draw a bit…just for fun but have only mastered the art of stick men drawing. LOL. It was reassuring that you were once in the same boat. I also collect countless bits and pieces when I travel. I enjoyed seeing you use some of the items you collected in your journal. TFS

Hi Alice. Thanks for touching base. Yes, I like to yell long and loud that if you wait until you can draw or paint well, you may never start. Far better to jump in and make cartoon figures and label them well and then be bold about it. I hope you make some bold and fun pages of your life and memories! Kelly

Delghtful 💙 Our early morning arrival in Bologna on the night train found us sleeping... Fortunately Italian train-mates woke us, we jumped off the train and our new friends threw our backpacks out the window! Just like you, we have fond memories
@BookandPaperArts7 ай бұрын
Wow! Now THAT is a memory. In my advanced years I have a fear/healthy respect of sleeping through my stop on an overnight trip. I set all of my personal device alarms and make my husband call me. Back in the old days I just sat near the driver. 😺😺

This is so weirdly strange to watch since you brought back nearly exactly what I did last September... For example the blue and white postcard bags from Ravenna, the mosaic postcards, pictures from the collonades in Bologna, holy cards from the churches I visited. I still have most of it on my desk right now. Thank you for the inspiration for what to do with some of it! I hope you had some pasta al ragu in Bolonga (unless you are a vegetarian of course). Greetings from Germany.
@BookandPaperArts7 ай бұрын
Hi Katja. Your message made me smile. One of the reasons to use found papers is to make sure they get used up and not lost in some drawer, especially as we do tend to come home with the same, beautiful stuff. Yeah, I am vegetarian but I did have the most amazing grilled vegetable salad with fresh ricotta and also some perfect pasta. Did you get a chance to visit Padova? It was crazy and gorgeous.

This was so inspiring. Every time I go on holiday, I have great intentions to do this, but I always end up with the collected ephemera stuffed into a journal with the intention of “doing it later”. We’re off to France in three weeks and I WILL MAKE A TRAVEL JOURNAL!! You make it look so easy and so achievable…who knew envelopes and serviettes could be so damn handy!! Can’t wait to see the flip through 😊😊
@ochervelvet96877 ай бұрын
I love this! Thank you for sharing. Whenever I need to use a glue stick, I nearly always use Uhu. It’s great! However, there’s another glue stick that’s supposed to be awesome for heavier papers (highly recommended by Robyn McClendon in case you follow her), and luckily for you (if you want to try it) it’s made in Italy. It’s called Giotto. It costs the earth to get it here in the US, so I only bought one small tube (something like $14 USD at the time). I’m afraid to use it because it was so expensive! 😅 But you might want to look into it. It’s supposed to be cheap and commonplace in Europe.

Oooh, thank you for the heads up as this is a new one on me. Now I am off to see if it is online and in my budget. I know of Robyn and her work is fun and beautiful. Thanks!

Hi Sandra. Here is the link to their site, coming up as UK site on my computer but if you search for "TouchNote" post cards you will probably get a link in your country. What he does is uploads photos from the road and adds a message. He has a mailing list stored on the site and from there he can send one or a bunch. He really likes it and uses it a lot.
