In this particular case, is there a way to "force" the centermost spiral not to appear at the same horizontal and vertical height? The rest of the pattern elements appear seamless but not this center one. At least to me.

I think we are all looking for the same thing about the white lines. I reaaaaally wish the people from lynda.com answer this simple question, because I am working online and I need it solved and its true that with art optimized thing it reduces the quality.

I display my work online so I don't want those white lines showing up, it's not just a matter of what shows up when it's printed. I haven't figured out how to get rid of those lines. There's no answer in this tutorial (converting to pixels doesn't work). If this is a glitch in an otherwise wonderful pattern tool then I hope Adobe is working on it. It's like a wonderful bowl of soup but there's a fly (i.e. white lines) in it that ruins everything.

+Morgan Field When you export your pattern in a JPG for example, it give you an option to chose the export with Art Optimized anti-aliasing selected, that get's rid of the white lines. Those will always appear in the vector pattern but not on the exported image (If you've done it right of course)

+Magali Lopez Thanks for input, but I don't think that works. I've tried many things that very well may have included your suggestion. I've given up without a real clear answer. I know that some projects I saved as a .PSD file so that I can finish my projects in Photoshop and I have been instructed to turn anti-aliasing off. That doesn't work either. What can work is turning off anti-aliasing in general preferences in Illustrator but the big problem with that is the quality is significantly reduced at least when it comes to viewing the projects online. You may be right with the JPG idea but I've grown skeptical of all these suggestions that people make online about this problem that either don't work or come with major drawbacks. I prefer not to save my work as a JPG if I'm wanting to finish it up in Photoshop because I don't want to take a data loss. But a lot of times I admit these result in unnoticeable changes. So there's still no clear answer. Thanks again for your comment and I will keep it in mind if I want to try different things again to get rid of the lines.
