It's a translation error, here in Italy it's called a stool / bedside rug. It was used many years ago when beds were very high off the floor, so they were used to get out of bed

Ciao, seguo i tuoi lavori di restauro e mi piacciono. Il disegno laserato non è male, ma se non sbaglio questi scendiletto per vecchi letti a baldacchino, o simili, sopra avevano l'imbottitura tipo poltrona. Quelli più belli erano anche in velluto, almeno io li ricordo così. In ogni caso è un bel lavoro e così com'è si potrebbe usare come tavolino da salotto.

Esatto erano per letti alti. In origine era imbottito con un disegno con degli alberi di ciliegio stile giapponese. Ho voluto provare a dare un tocco di originalità a mio modo di vedere. Un saluto e Grazie

Hola, es un error de traducción. En italiano, una alfombra junto a la cama( Sal de la cama puede) significar un taburete. Dado que las camas antiguas eran mucho más altas que las actuales, se utilizó un taburete/Sal de la cama.😃🙋🇮🇹
