@ilmango 9:16 one of Distant horizons devs here What you are seeing is a near plane which is unfortunate result of glass being transparent, and our rending being opaque. We hope to change that in the future. You probably have overdraw set to always, but even on other settings such glass worlds might not look good. also if you enable Debug Keybindings in mod's settigns you can use F6 to disable rendering portion of the mod. The concept of having one of the most well known, over the top technical servers deciding not to use TNT duping for non-essential purposes is really cool. @@LofiTurtle_ No, I didn’t mean the mob cap with efficiency. When you move a row of mobs over the spawning spaces nothing can spawn there, momentarily. So you’ll be blocking a lot of spawning spaces thereby decreasing efficiency. So yes, I do believe it affects the farms efficiency even though it’s already a pretty inefficient farm.

My experience with the allays so far has been better than I expected. Used four of them to help dig out a large geode connected to a fairly large dripstone cave. The only issues encountered were: - found overhead water and they they got stuck at the top of the water because they can't swim - they kept flying into the nether portal because I forgot to cover it up - one of them got stuck on a pointed dripstone once So basically as long as you keep them away from overhead water, they're pretty reliable even in a dripstone cave. After that I brought one to an end city. Bringing it there and back was surprisingly easy, and it was pretty good at picking up shells. Would even dive all the way down to the end stone if needed. It seems to be that if you give them an item, put them on a lead, and get a "gradual" running start, you can even transport them via elytra

I made that hoglin farm recently and it didn't actually have great rates. Not sure what I was doing wrong; based on block distance the platforms were in range for hoglins to spawn on them yet they rarely did when I was at the bottom, even though I built it ~70 blocks from the bedrock ceiling. Recently made another farm design based on how soul sand and lava interact and the rates are absurd. I had all the porkchop and leather I needed by the time I finished making it.
@racernatorde53182 жыл бұрын
"when I was at the bottom" And there is the mistake. Farms that are build above the nether roof make use of the afk player beeing near y256. Since mobs only spawn at 24-128 blocks distance (spherical) to a player, all the available spawning spaces would then be inside the farm. If you are at the farm level itself, mobs will spawn under the roof and the mobcap will quickly be filled, crippling the rates of the farm. You also wanna build the farm as low as possible, since the speed of mob spawning is higher, the lower the highest block is
@Talinoth2 жыл бұрын
Holy shit that first farm, the Hoglin one... hahahahaha this is the first time I can say that even I've designed a better farm... though that one didn't have a chunk loader or anything. That being said, realising that the production rates for food are so high that it doesn't *need* to be faster or require any design effort is pretty on point. However, if you want to farm Leather (like I did), you'll want a better design. From memory, mine involved a 7x7 hole with an armour stand in the centre for Hoglins/any piglins to aggro on to it, retracted trapdoors both on the sides of the hole and the armour stand support block, a square shape around the hole (sort of like an ancient Chinese bronze coin) as a spawning platform, slightly uneven mushroom placement (more towards corners instead of middle of the sides to drive hogs away from the corners), and this all drove the Hoglins directly towards the centre without pathfinding issues. I then repeated the design so that it had 3 layers. Like you, I had the hogs fall through a lava blade directly on to Hoppers. An hour of operation was enough to give me a multiple lifetime's supply of porkchops and enough leather for all my Bookshelf needs.

"If you have 1 double chest of TNT, you can get a million blocks." My math says you're off by an order of magnitude; one double chest would net you 100k blocks. Each TNT can destroy 27 blocks, which is reduced to 25 since the blocks above and below it are air. Divided into a million and you get 40k blocks of TNT. But a double chest is 54 stacks of 64 TNT each which is about 3.4k, or less than 10% of the TNT needed.
