It was dethroned by Cebu beginning in the 1960s when San Miguel Beer opened its first brewery outside Manila in Cebu instead of the originally intended Iloilo. San Miguel Corporation was turned off by the big grease money asked by Iloilo City Mayor Ganzon. Since then Cebu grew exponentially industrially and commercially while Iloilo lost its agricultural power especially sugar production as its preferred status was rescinded by the U.S. market. That lost brewery could have jumped started Iloilo’s industrialization - as it did with Cebu - as it lost its agricultural base. A classic showcase of corruption stunting economic growth.

I understand you r ancestors till now has not moved on from the past , despite the size of Iloilo , it was the one acknowledge by the queen over Cebu . Philippines has great potential since it showed rapid economic grows in the past years. According to PSA the share of tourism direct gross value added to the Philippines economy as measured by the GDP is estimated at 6.2%. it generates income and employment opportunities enhances our Economy and generates Revenue for the local government.
