It's a shame that all British soldiers are tarred with the same brush by Republicans. They are only about simply because it's their job & they have to be there so that their families back home are provided for. At the start of the Troubles it was the British soldiers, and NOT the IRA, who protected the Republican communities in Belfast from angry mobs of Loyalists who were out for their blood.
