Trivia:Sulawesi Utara is the only province in Indonesia where Tagalog and Bisaya are largely spoken, mostly are Filipino residents in Manado, Bitung, Minahassa, Talaud, Miangas, Marore and Sitaro Islands because Minahassan, Sangirese and Tongsawan are belongs to Philippine Language Family If Zamboanga City has a Spanish Creole of Chavacano, Manado has Manado Malay Creole 😊😊

It's not just Tonsawang and sangirise. All of the North Sulawesi languages are classified under the Philippines language branch from Gorontalo, bolaang mongondow, Minahasa and the sangihe languages 🙂

The Spanish creole Chavacano sounds closer to Haitian Creole and most Indo-European languages than it is to Malay.

Hey y’all I’m the person reading the words and phrases. If I said anything that sounded wrong I would like to apologize. My mother is Siau and Sangir and my father is Minahasan but I was raised in the United States. I mostly spend most of my time in North Sulawesi in Bitung city so if that accent comes out my bad. Mo minta maaf for tu logat kalo talalu kantal mar lebe sering bakudapa deng keluarga dari Bitung e. 🤣🤣🤣

Before the Dutch came, it was the Portuguese who influenced us. In Bahasa Indonesia we have pintu (door), jendela (window), meja (table), sepatu (shoes), bendera (flag), bangku (long chair), keju (cheese), gereja (church), beranda (terrace), Belanda (Dutch) and many others.

manadonese here. i think it's because people here often talk very loudly and use harsh slang and insults. so when we hear the creole being spoken we automatically associate it with people calling each other pigs, yelling because there's speakers blasting tiktok dj music at 11pm. As someone with a Minahasan mother and having spent my early childhood in North Sulawesi, hearing this sounds odd and funny. Haha. Another thing I didn't know is that Manadonese (Bahasa Manado) is considered a Malay/Indonesian creole. I always thought of it just as a dialect or even accents. By the way, thank you, Andy! Great job!

There's probably some politics involved with these sort of things. But if you look at it objectively. There are all dialects of Malay, even Indonesian (its literally a renamed version of a Malay dialect). Or at least varients of Malay.

@@twintesayeah that's true Prior to the dutch mission in Minahasa, the natives that spoke malay were mostly the ones that lived near the coast or just the ones that were usually conducting trades. The further spread of malay into the natives were due to the dutch goverment and its Christian mission because it was much more intelligible, although there were some missionaries that took it upon themselves to speak in the native Languages and taught with it but this soon would be overturned by the use of Malay in church songs and liturgy and eventually for the goverment
