Welcome to MississippI! My family has deep roots from Vicksburg down to Natchez. We used to go to Vicksburg at least once every year. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve gone and I’m thinking it’s time for another trip. Love watching your videos.

Jerry, back then that's when the men were men and the sheep were nervous. We are a blessed person to have what we have today. Thanks for the video I love history and old war museums.

So true Ty. Walking these fields and seeing the history is something to behold. My hope is it’s never repeated, but eternally grateful for the sacrifices made by those who came before.

My husband great uncle Lloyd Tilghman that is a confederate briderate General killed at Champion Hill. His monument is there. We lay flowers there when we go there. It is something to see I haven't seen all of it. Plan to see the rest next time. So much history there and sad. Seeing the graves really sets the tone as how bad the battle was. Loved the video.

So glad to hear you enjoyed the video. It is quite unsettling to see where so much loss occurred. The entire area has so much history to experience. Hope you get a chance to return.

What a cool place. Just got back from Gatlinburg. Stayed at the Smoky Mountain campground from Saturday to Wednesday and had a great time. Caught 9 nice trout and cooked and eat them .lol. My wife found a very nice campground next to Gatlinburg called Greenbrier Campground. Very well maintained and very clean shower houses. A must stay! Hope you guys are doing well. Enjoy the road my friends.

We visited there in the early 1980s. It was really wonderful. Spent a lot of time at the Civil War memorial. Saw a Civil War ship that they had covered. All the old cannons, and grave yard. Really a beautiful place, even tho there was a bloody battle there. Visited some antebellum homes. One one the river where the cannon ball from the Yankees shot thru the house and ended in the basement where everyone was hiding during that battle.

It was an interesting history tour. The old court house now Museum was a good spot too.

Wasn’t that place just amazing? When we were there it was cold and rainy so we didn’t get to enjoy it to it’s fullest but man, it’s huge! And that Iron Clad was so cool!

I have an ancestor that fought on the Union side. He was with the Illinois Calvary. His name is listed on one of the bronze plaques inside the Illinois Memorial. This is on my father's side of the family and they came to Texas after the Civil War and settled. When I saw his name on the plaque, I was so proud of him and the legacy he left behind. He's not buried at the cemetery as he survived the battle there.

@@iLoveRVlife .. What I found interesting ... Based on old family diaries .. Was that homesteads were still experiencing 'Indian attacks' during the war. Guess some places experienced a bit of double jeopardy. I've learned a lot of surprising history from my genealogy research.
