thank you so much for providing this tutorial! it was slow going but i continued and reached success. the only problem i encountered was regarding the logo and eventually upgraded to pro just to get passed that hurdle. the button was grayed out (not sure that explains the problem)...anyhow this novice could not have created a website without your step by step guidance. thank you for sharing your knowledge freely!

wordpress and joomla have been around a long time and I honestly love them both. for a blog I would definitely use wordpress- but for an actual website it really depends on the kind of site your building. joomla is a lot more flexible with all of the modules, so it's great for bigger sites. wordpress is nice and simple for smaller sites with less content but it can get messy if you need, for example, different sidebars on each page. for me, i use both depending on the project.

Great Tutorial! I tried it locally based on Joomla 3.2.1 and found out that some steps are diefferent now, but if you know these, they are a little bit easier. What I'm still looking for is a Captcha for the contact form.

Hello Sulara, You will need to install a WebServer with PHP. This can be done by installing MAMP (For Mac users) and WAMP (for Windows users). This will allow you to install Joomla and create your website without a hosting provider, but you will still need a hosting provider later to publish it to the internet. I cant put web addresses here but do a google search for mamp server and wamp server. Search for "wamp joomla" and there will be an ehow instruction of how to do it. Good Luck!

I haven't get to the part in this tutorial where you actually start building the website, but I was wondering if I can skip to that part and work from there. Brilliant tutorial! Currently I have an active iWeb site (hosted on Godaddy) that I need to keep alive until I can build my first CMS site. I have no website skills at all but you make Joomla seem achievable. So my question is how do I get started rebuilding my site without destroying the iWeb site until the new on is ready? I've retried multiple times, and have installed/uninstalled and reinstalled, and have tried using different templates. From the beginning on my actual site, I had a sign that read showlist data not configured. And when I go into components > jsn imageshow, then click on new, the next page never opens up, it just endlessly loads. any idea of what the problem could be? would be a huge help! thanks

Fantastic tutorial, mate. REALLY helpful to me. I've got one question though: I'm using Joomla! version 3.2.1 and I cannot find the CSS style edit icon anywhere to make the padding a little bit wider. You've explained this in your video at position 1:00:11, but in my version this icon isn't there at all. I've tried to use the HTML-editor, but this isn't really working. Can you perhaps help me with this? Thank you so much.

Hi Sanel, I've found a solution to the problem. Just add this in the HTML image link manually: "hspace=15". So, after the height and width parameters. This should do the trick just fine. Good luck!
