Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: That person who is not able to give sadaqah should say the following durud in his du’a: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ وَصَلِّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ ‘Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin ‘abdika wa rasulika wa salli ‘alal mu’minina wal mu’minat wal muslimina wal muslimat’ and this would become his Sadaqah’ (charity) Hafiz Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) and Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) have recorded this narration. (Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 903, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 130) Hafiz Ibn Hibban has authenticated this narration. Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith as authentic (sahih) and Hafiz Dhahabi (rahimahullah) has concurred with him. ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasan). (Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 274)
