For the international fans, here is the translation of Ilse's musings on her music. Ilse: Nashville... I never would have thought that this city would become my second home. The winding roads, the rolling countryside, the old sheds/barns, all of which reminds me of my home region Twente (East of The Netherlands); that is probably why it feels so familiar. Nashville inspires me. It is a city with endless possibilities! This new album, produced by T Bone Burnett, is darker than my previous albums, it is rather introspective. As can be expected, when T Bone is involved, the result is quite a cinematic, nostalgic album, from the first to the last song. People usually consider me a cheerful person, which, indeed, I am. Yet everyone has two sides and so do I... I am aware of my so called dark side, my insecurities, my questions and I write these down. Sometimes, I use them for songs. These particular songs are about the risks of losing someone, about having a broken heart and the pain that goes along with it. Yet, they are also encouraging. The idea that events are happening at their own pace and turn out exactly how they are meant to be, can be quite comforting. For me, Nashville is pre-eminently suitable for me to listen to these emotions and to incorperate these in songs. In the studio, everything falls into place, while being deeply immersed in music. Here everything comes together. Working with the musicians that contributed to this album was nothing short of a dream come true. Russ Pahl, Ylja Toshinsky, Dennis Crouch, our own fellow Common Linnet, Matthew Crosby, Jay Bellrose and my very own Bart.... Working with these people is energizing me! To have my album placed among other albums from artists whom I admire so much, who have fuelled my burning passion for music, like Robert Plant, Allison Kraus as well as playing at the Bluebird Café, where so many of my musical hero's have played before, this what Nashville has offered me! It is the sacred ground where I can follow in the footsteps of people who have taught me so much. I feel very grateful for that!

Geweldig dit drieluik, Ilse, over de achtergrond van je nieuwste album !! Ontzettend leuk om op deze wijze van jou te horen wat je heeft bewogen om dit album te maken en wat Nashville voor jou betekent. En ik hoop nog veel meer van deze prachtige muziek te horen (niet dat je popkant niet geweldig is, hoor).

Ilse wat heb je een prachtige cd afgeleverd. Ik vind echt alle 10 nummers zo ongelooflijk goed. Er gaat nauwelijks nog een dag voorbij dat ik hem niet een of meer keer draai. Je mag oprecht trots zijn op deze cd
