I hope you realize that more than 2/3 of every country song uses the same basic three chord rhythm of D, C, and G. Almost every single song uses that melody either sped up or slowed down, so to use this argument you would have to take away credit from more than just one singer/writer and give it to whoever started that that three bar system.
