Plenty of pianists can play trills more precisely, but how many can instantly get to the emotional heart of this music and pull you right in? I think it's a thrilling performance. It has real soul. Thanks very much for this post. I had never known of this recording.

Thank you, Irina. You were fortunate indeed to hear her. I see that her lps are currently found only in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Perhaps this youtube exposure will induce one of the outfits who make digital transfers of rare recordings to put her music on a cd and make it widely available in the West.

IMO, she's losing momentum in the Ouverture, which has to set the stage; there's a lack of drive. My current reference would be Andrei Gavrilov ( Richter turning pages), also on KZbin. The Passacaglia is too slow for my taste, but I can certainly appreciate another interpretation of this piece I wasn't aware of. Händel was in a league of his own.
