Love this song, while a baby is being born an old woman is dying down the hall, the angels open the baby's eyes to life and gently close the old woman's eyes as she completes her journey here. The circle of life and souls coming in and out, so poignant. Some people think the baby dies in this song but the baby is fine, it's the old woman down the hall who passes. And I lost my only son in 2015 when he was 31, I have lost a lot of people in my 61 years but there was NO pain like the grief of losing my son. Live has so many great songs!

This is a similar topic to what Metalica Enter Sandman was meant to be about until they were asked to make it more mainstream and then became a nursery rhyme.

This always felt like reincarnation to me - an old mother dies and a new baby is born down the hall. Forces pulling from the center of the earth again... So powerful.

Very good reaction video. I love watching people experience this song for the first time. I’m so sorry for all the loss your family has experienced. I loved this song when it came out because it was about the circle of life. As I’ve grown older I’ve learned to appreciate it more as I’ve lost people I’ve loved and seen new people I love being born. Definitely a song that’s on my top 100 list.

It's heartbreaking. I have loved this band and this song for years. Hurts every time. Makes you wonder how we, as humans, can hurt each other the way we do. No parent should ever have to bury a child. However, losing both parents, I'll say death is hard to process. ❤ great reaction. Subscribing now!

He wrote this about a friend who was in a car accident. She was clinically brain dead and donated her organs. It’s a beautiful song about the circle of life. May your family RIP. ❤️🙏🏻

This is the song I turn to when life is getting crazy and I need to be reminded of my priorities. Kinda like a reset button. I've cried occasionally listening to it over the past 30 years, but when I became a mother, it became more than just a song. It's much more than that. You're gonna be a good dad 😊

Everyone has the same expression. Looking listening what the f... then we all understand. Touches all of us. Your story makes me believe. We give freely and then it will be taken. Subscribed. Peace from west Texas. Chasing the wind.

This album, Throwing Copper, is truly one of the best albums made in that decade... truly revelutionary for the entire music industry. If I could suggest another song by these guys it would be I Alone... you will not be disappointed! X

Actually the lead singer wrote this in high school when he lost a girlfriend to a drunk driver. She donated her organs to a number of people, one of which he is still friends with today. 🙏🏻

This "Throwing Copper" album is one of my favourite '90s albums. I have fond memories of going to see them *just* before they blew up with this album.... a tiny little venue called King Tut's in Glasgow, Scotland. They seemed amused at teenage me singing along with pretty much every word when nobody else there knew the songs yet apart from their "I Alone" single! LOL :)

He wrote this song about 2 people in the hospital. First is the "New Mother" and all the baby stuff is good cause new life! The other is the "Old Mother" who dies after a whole long life! So yeah it's not about the children dying! Hope that helps you a little, it does for me but it still is hard to listen to!

The books on the floor represent the Bible's center of the earth. You see the pages move as the wind blows, representing the Holy Spirit. He is present. It is at birth and death that all nature moves, and he is asking God why?
