Like you, I live in OH, and I have a native F7 down to an F5.6 refractor. I also own a classic C8. Because of the weather, I'm thinking about getting rid of both scopes and getting a C9.5 Edge. Native F/10 or slower with a Barlow, use the reducer to speed it up and the last hyper star to go even faster. I want to give it a bit more time with the dual-sensor camera before I pull the trigger.

I take it thr c8 isn’t fastar so cant use hyperstar? That’s a bummer. A c8 with all those options is a killer combo. I would get annoyed with changing it but I suppose if you get really good :) and I e been gonng through my old hyperstar data and I am def impressed looking at the integration times

Whats funny is that I just told the lazy geek about why you sold all your rig to go Live. Personally, I don't like the apertura scope but check out Cuiv's recent full review on it and feel free to use his affiliate link if youd like to support him. Welcome back and I'm looking forward to your future captures.

I wish they would sell that 6 inch RASA by itself, they're putting in the Origin. Good video.

Me too. It’s a big risk from my experience buying a new scope like that but I’d be willing to take it and if it sucked return it.

I actually asked High Point Scientific about the CarbonStar newts and if they planned on developing an 8 or 10 inch version. They said to check in a few months and that response was about a week ago.

Very interesting. It would be nice to have a more turn key version then say the sky watchers and all the little issues that come with them.

Awesome. The 2600 and the am5 are almost no brainers for me. I owned many cameras and a few mounts and nothing performed like these two. The scope well that just kind of a what you want right now ? For me. I’ve done so much wide field that now I’m ready to go deeper.

@@easyastroimages5818 i'd like to be able to do widefield, but i also dabble in planetary/lunar/solar. hopefully the AM5 can handle a C8 or so

Welcome back Chad. The new Apertura reflector is a beast of a scope. Any reason you didn’t go for a “budget” refractor like the Askar which of course doesn’t require frequent collimation?
@easyastroimages5818
@easyastroimages5818 2 ай бұрын
Thank you. More of a personal choice. I’ve had refractors as my main scopes the past few years so I think it’s time to increase the focal length a little bit but still maintain a reasonable setup that people can relate to. A 2600duo on top of that just really cleans up a setup and gets rid of a lot of headache and extra wires and mounts and all that crap. My am5 just plain worked and I could throw it around anywhere anytime lol

@@easyastroimages5818 That’s a damn good combo you have there. The AM5, Apertura scope and the 2600 duo. You’ll be addicted to astrophotography again. Can’t wait to see your images when you get everything.🤘

Great video! I heard good things about the Aperture scope too and have been thinking about giving it a try. I like mostly catadioptric scopes but a simple good Newtonian is always a good choice. Let me know how you like it if you decide to get one. Best regards Luis in NY

Thank you very much! It is high on the list. The reviews look good. I will def be going longer focal length either with a new scope or the 6 inch rc I still have. I’ve owned many sct so I’ll be skipping those this time for sure

Haha really? How is it working? Man what a game changer that was. Having evening parked and shutdown and flats just waiting. What a great thing vs the dumb Amazon trace panel.

@@easyastroimages5818 Works great! I haven't had the redcat out since winter because of galaxy season, but it's about to get a workout. I will say this though I had already bought one directly from Slovenia for my Esprit 120ed. It hasn't done as well. I've had nothing but problems with it. Needed a new circuit board. Doesn't close very good (seal). The magnets keep popping out in my grass and I haven't found the right replacement size on amazon. The metal ring on the flap that hold it open to another magnet came unglued so now it kind of hangs there listlessly because I got tired of reattaching it. Also for some reason NINA hates this one, but no problems with the one i got from you. What I'm winding up to is this if you can swing it, get the Primaluce Alto-Giotto, 10 times better. To me worth the extra. I bought the PLL one for my Tak FSQ106EDX4. the Amazon trace pad flats were butt cancer in comparison. I just program them into my sequence in NINA and forget about it.

I'm an Ohio guy myself. Anyway, I just picked up an older celestron c8 to do planetary photography. What would be a good camera to use with it, as of now I have been using my nikon with my ETX 80. Any help is greatly appreciated. Limited budget also. Thx.

You’re going to want speed and a small sensor for planet work. Most of those cameras are in the few hundred dollar range for a color version. Mono is the ultimate choice but then you’re talking filters and a filter wheel.

Loving my 6" Carbon Star Newt. Should an 8" come out - I'm jumping on it... Caution - the 2600 is not a good match for this scope.

Awesome. Are you saying that because of pixel size? I usually just drizzle down. I’ve done this for so long that my wants are simple ..like 2 cams in one..vs worrying about a sample size issue.
@Mike_Gibbs971
@Mike_Gibbs971 Ай бұрын
@@easyastroimages5818 No, pixel size isn't the issue, its the image circle - really just too small for APSC sensors. You would have to crop, which may not be an issue to you.
