The Three Stooges started way back in 1922. They were originally 2nd bananas to Ted Healy. Ted and Moe were childhood pals. They all started out on the Vaudeville circuit playing venues across the country. They did only a few short films with Ted, one being Soup To Nuts. They didn't start doing these shorts until 1934. They did the shorts up until 1958 then they started making full movies like Have Rocket Will Travel, Snow White And The Three Stooges, and Three Stooges Meet Hercules.

Moe and Curly's (Jerome) brother, Shemp quit the group because of Ted Healy. Shemp and Moe's youngest brother, Jerome aka Curly stepped in as Shemp's replacement. Fact is that Curly cuts his hair short for only entertainment purposes. Then Curly suffered health problems such as multiple strokes. Shemp came back in Curly's place. Sadly, Curly died young from strokes at the age of 48 in 1952.

Not that anyone's asking, but yes that's really Larry Fine (born Louis Feinberg) playing the violin. Apparently when he was a kid his dad was testing jewellery for its gold content with acid in the kitchen, and young Louis accidentally spilled it on his arm. His parents gave him violin lessons to help with the damaged muscles.

The Three Stooges began in 1922 as part of a raucous vaudeville act called "Ted Healy and His Stooges" ("stooges" being show-business slang for on-stage assistants). The act was also known as "Ted Healy and His Southern Gentlemen" and "Ted Healy and His Racketeers".

Their first short from Columbia was in 1935 called "Woman Haters". The whole short was played in rhyme. Before they signed on with Columbia Pictures they worked in Vaudeville with a man named Ted Healy who had been Moe's childhood friend. Moe joined Healy's act in 1923 as a stooge...a "random" member of the audience. Moe's brother, Shemp joined the act in 1924. Larry was added in 1928. Moe and Shemp left and rejoined a couple of times along with Larry, with Shemp leaving the group in 1932 and was replaced by his brother, Curly (Jerome). In March of 1934 Moe, Curly and Larry parted ways for the final time with Healy and joined Columbia Pictures.

The Three Stooges started in Vaudeville working for Ted Healey in 1922. There were 3 brothers Moe, Shemp and Curly. Curly entered the act when Shemp took a break. Larry Fine joined the group sometime later. They started making short films in 1934. There is only one film where Shemp and Curly are both present. When Curly started he told Moe to always hit him full force for the realism. There were various reason why Shemp and Curly were alternately part of the film cast, but Moe and Larry were in every picture. After they retired in 1970 one of the network created a Three Stooges cartoon series. After Curly died he was replaced by other actors.

There’s 189 more of these that the made for Columbia Pictures…but it is widely considered that the best are the ones with Curly, like this one…(the chubby one with the high voice)…about the first 11years worth or so. Check out their biography…there are video versions of it right here on KZbin….it’s a great story! They even made a tv movie about them in the late nineties or early 2000s, I think it was. They made these shorts from 1934 to 1957. They also made a few longer films, with various performers in the third stooge position….starting with Soup To Nuts in 1930, before they signed with Columbia. The main core of the Stooges was three brothers from Brooklyn…Moe, Curly and Shemp…and Larry who was from Philadelphia. They all started in Vaudeville. Keep looking for more episodes!
