I actually tried modeling but I was aiming more for TV commercial or like background acting work. Then they were like "You could actually do some magazine work too." I'm like 5 ft 2 and honestly I don't think they decided to book me because I lived a full train ride away and was in a demanding university program. I know for sure that they booked a lot of models for commercials that were smaller than me and that were less okay talking on camera. I was very stylish in an emo/punk way and was super into environmental/social causes. The agency I signed with liked that. I also had just been getting into KZbin and they thought that was interesting/great for promotion. I was cool with them cutting my hair or whatever and they were more of the "we may dye it different colours" and I was game for that.
