I can't remember what KZbin vid or whatever it was but someone said in a world that was dominated by male frontmen she not only stood but went toe to toe with the best of them. She is a forever legend. This is my favourite song because it is so brilliantly written and heartfelt and as fucking always she delivers an above perfect performance. R.I.P. beautiful rock goddess!!

@@AaronPoplawski I feel 60% of her sexiness was her outfits and legit rock attitude but that's enough to blow a young dude's mind. 😎 I put in same league of song as The Motels Total Control. ❤️🔥 Classics.

Man, the 90's was just overload, so many awesome bands so much awesome music, I couldn't fit it all in. Punk, grunge & Tool took up all my time back then so these guys just slipped by me but now that I'm older I can't get enough of these guys..I wish I had seen them live back in the day. Mark is an awesome guitarist & Chrissy is just....well....no words...or too many words 😀😍. Thanks Divinyls thanks Chrissy 🙏

The sad thing growing in 90's was too many great songs, too many great bands, too many great solo singers, and with a limited money, for sure we could not afford to buy them all. So we had to watch MTV very often, or to listen to radio as frequent as possible, just to hear the expected song. And now, with a single keyword, we can listen to any song any time.

I recorded an episode of Rage one night that had had this video on it when it was a new release. As I was viewing the tape, this song came on. Back then I was into metal and industrial music so I thought meh The Divinals but decided to sit through it. By the time the song finished I was a fan of it and still am 20 years later.

I love the lyrics of this song; so honest. Instead of telling a little story, Chrissie just sings about how we really think when we're in that situation. I'm jealous and I can't stand the thought of you with anyone else. Simple.

When I listen to this I hear something refreshingly bold and quite unique. I just don't think this stunningly poignant, visceral effect could be achieved without Chrissy's instinctive mastery of all aspects of the Australian temperament and her extraordinarily beautiful use of language and accent. Sadly, relatively obscure outside of Australia but an undeniable masterpiece. jtk in Canada

For what it's worth I not only knew of them here in Ireland in my childhood and teens. What a Life was the 2nd album I ever bought. They may not have gotten as much love as they deserved in the larger world, but they were loved by a lot of people; including one girl who managed to walk through hell with Temperamental as the soundtrack.
@truespyfan4 жыл бұрын
I agree.. They never got that exposure.. Saw them many times live in Sydneys magic live music scene back then.. problem was there were so many top notch bands in Aussie during those years it was hard for them all in that period to get out and about.

Such a deeply touching song from an incredible talent - she never held back and told it how she felt it - how we all feel at times but are careful never to show that side publicly just to keep up appearances - good music has to come straight from the gut - these talented people speak for us on many different levels - god rest her troubled soul!

I remember as most do the Divinyls coming out with the song " I Touch Myself " in the 90's . When I first heard it besides the suggestive lyrics I thought ," Wow is this girl sexy " . Then I listened to " I Am On Your Side " and it just blew me away how she pours her heart into her songs. Then I pretty much forgot about them for years and was surfing You Tube a few weeks back and saw " I'm Jealous " for the first time and I thought wow Chrissy just nails it here , singing from the heart , that raw voice and her presence just oozes sexiness . Then I found out she passed over three years ago and I was so sad . I just love that with just a look she could draw you in and the sexy pout that her lips form .... Miley Cyrus pay attention here , this is how a woman does it !! This is now added to my favorite songs .......
