Never be afraid to experiment and potentially mess the drawing up. Mistakes help you improve sometimes more than a successful drawing.

As a former art professor , if you're comfortable the entire process you're not learning something.

I feel dumb for not knowing this was a technique. I always struggle with color choice. This seems to almost put it at the end so I can get the important parts of the picture down first. Thanks for sharing!!

Great method, i normally use the Color Lookup feature in PS to give it a quick sepia or brown color base to the sketch or doodles.

If you want to take all current layers and compress them into a single layer copy easy use the keyboard shortcut ctrl + alt + shift + e this will stamp the current image onto a new layer.

Rayven! Thanks for another helpful video. I have some questions though. First, what is the name of the square brush you use? I can't seem to find it in photoshop. Second, if I want to paint a medieval city at night, what underpaint color would you recommend? Dark blue? Thank you!

Thanks for watching the whole video. You can download the free OG brushes in the video description. I am sure that brush is included in that pack.

What's the difference between an overlay and a gradient map? Is there more control???
@lonestarr149015 сағат бұрын
A gradient map let's you assign a color to a certain value range. It can be any color, regardless of its value. The initial value is not maintained. That's not the case for overlay. That said, I deem gradient maps too complicated for beginners, as you already should have a good understanding of values going in. They are a powerful tool, but that can go in both directions. You can probably do some trickery with the grayscale layer, like, you put a copy of it on top, set it to multiply and then play around with the opacity. But still, an overlay layer is probably the better alternative if you are like me and don't yet know exactly what you're doing.
