Question. Why can't you add copied images to the remarks or extra fields by going into the Fields Tab within the Occlusion Editor? Its annoying to have to go out into the browse window and find the card just to add an image to the Remarks or Extra fields. Adding that capability would save me so much time.

You could try editing the corresponding note in the card browser and adding your audio file to any of the fields that only appear on the back of the card (e.g. "Remarks", "Extra 1", etc.).

Hi Ava, sorry for the belated response. Been very busy these past few weeks. You might have found a solution by now, but just in case: You can change the easy interval for new cards by going to the deck options ("cog" icon on the right hand side of each deck). The option should be visible in the "new cards" tab. For more information on configuring Anki's scheduling settings make sure to check out the following section of Anki's manual: apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual.html#new-cards. It's really comprehensive and should cover all bases.

Hi. I love your addons. I have ADHD and they give me a change to get through med school. I often make an read something, then make Occlussion note, then read something, the look at screen seeing the windows for the note before, not knowing if I added the cards from before. This means I often make duplicates in fear of not making the car. Is there some way to avoid this? or remove duplicates?

Hi! Great add on! It has, along with many of your other great add ons save me so much time and helped me in my studies. Thank you for making these. Question: Is there a way to study geography (and material like it) with it? In other words, is there the possibility to take a clean image of say The United States where only the borders of the states are visible and make it so that Anki first shows you the empty map with a questing for where a state I located and then the answer with the state filled in? I would like to use this for learning both anatomy and the provinces of the European countries, as it is now the covering/highlighting an area does a lot for identifying it but does not quite carry over when it comes to finding it.

Hey Stefan, happy to hear that my add-ons could help! That's a great question. It's basically about reversing how the add-on works, training recognition rather than reproduction. This is not possible with IO currently, but I was thinking about introducing a similar feature a while ago (post 24 onwards here: anki.tenderapp.com/discussions/add-ons/8295-image-occlusion-enhanced-official-thread/page/1#comment_41163890), Unfortunately I had to push it back due to lack of time. Not a lot has changed since then in terms of how much time I can allocate to new features, but I hope this will improve soon. When it does, this feature will definitely be on my radar. (I haven't announced this properly, yet, but I'm also working on getting a Patreon campaign up and running. If this is successful and receives some support, I will be able to dedicate a much larger chunk of my time to my add-ons and finally have the opportunity to implement exciting new features like this. Is it possible to leave an outline of the box after revealing the answer? I use a lot of Netters and similar diagrams for anatomy with several occlusions revealed at once (though i don't cover all the labels on the diagram), the problem is once they've been revealed it's difficult to identify which labels were occluded and which weren't. hopefully this makes sense, thanks so much

Can I use the Image Occlusion editor to add text to the background image that shows up on every card without generating other cards ? Right now when I add text it behaves like the rectangle tool object, as if the text was here to hide something, generating a new card for each piece of text. I basically want to edit the background image (adding text) without generating occlusion text. Is it possible ?

hi glutanimate, i totally i appreciate your add ons and i want to thank you a lot for your great work :). i m a med student in pre clinics and i use your add ons quite often and find them very helpful :D. however, i have a question: is there somehow an oppertunity to use image occlusion enhanced in combination with cloze overlapping? - for example, lets say i have a picture where i have hidden words/names with image occlusion enhanced. after having unhidden one certain word while testing myself, id like to test myself about more details referrring that one word. i guess linking that one image occlusion card with a cloze overlapping card for that one word (that let´s say i already created) would be already great - are there any ways to do something like that oder do you plan to work on a combination on both soon? :) if the hyperlink could open that other cloze overlapping card in a small window while still having that image occlusion card open would be great. another suggestion for an improvement of anki in general is the following: the opportunity to adjust the seize of inserted pictures in cloze overlapping or other basic cards just as it already works in image occlusion enhanced. greetings, alex :D PS: maybe you are in general not interested in my ideas, so sorry that i just spammed you :D - however, thanks again for your great work referring anki!! and have a great day!

Hi Alexander. Thanks a for your thoughtful comments. Linking notes together is something I've tried exploring myself when I first started with Anki, but it seems like there is no viable way to implement a feature like this in Anki's current state. Because of its roots in language learning, Anki's design philosophy strives to treat each and every note as a distinct piece of information. The idea behind this is to avoid positioning effects where your recall performance is influenced by the context the card is presented in. For most use cases that makes sense, but there certainly are scenarios where having the ability to recall information in a specific order can be very handy. Maybe this will change in the future, but for now I don't see any good way of changing Anki's behavior in that regard. As for adjusting the size of inserted images: Do you mean in terms of the size they take up in the Editor or in terms of the size they take up in the Reviewer? If it's the former: You can use the "Maximum image height in card editor add-on" (ankiweb.net/shared/info/229181581). If it's the latter: The first two styling tweaks exemplified in the Wiki should also work for other card templates (github.com/Glutanimate/image-occlusion-enhanced/wiki/Customization#styling-tweak-examples). You will just have to add the CSS code snippets to each template you want to modify. Glad to hear these videos and add-ons provided some help in your studies so far. Good luck in whatever exams might be coming up next!

My masks do not change in color like the red, so I have no way of knowing which mask it is asking when all the labels are covered. How do I fix this?

Two things: 1.) Please make sure that your question shapes and regular shapes aren't set to the same color. You can verify this by going into the options menu under Tools -> IO Enhanced Options. 2.) Check whether your cards have been added properly in the card browser. In some cases it might look none of the masks are colored, but what might in fact have happened is that the add-on generated extra cards with very small question shapes. The Editor is very sensitive, so one small click with the wrong tool active can create an almost indistinguishably small rectangle that will prompt the add-on to generate an additional card. The best way to verify whether that's the case is to check the number of cards against the number of shapes. If they differ, you can try editing the occlusion to find and delete any extraneous shapes.

You're welcome! If you've changed the color settings in the options menu you can then proceed to edit each card as demonstrated in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWLMemlofcuhbbM. If you want to change the base color of your masks you'll have to select all shapes in the editor and choose a different color from the color bar at the bottom. The new question color - if you've changed it through the main options dialog - should automatically be applied after confirming your edits.

How do you add one card where all the boxes dissapear at the same time? (For instance in certain pathways I just simply want to be able to know all the enzymes and not make 6-7 cards for one slide)?

Hi there! sorry for the delayed response. My studies have been keeping me very busy these past few months. About pasting an image into your IO notes: Sadly that's not possible from IO's Editor window right now. The technical reason is that the add-on's editor fields only support plain text (in contrast to Anki's regular note editor which supports full-HTML rich text). I do hope to change that at some point in the future. My recommendation for now would be to paste your image into the note from the browser, as you say, and then use IO's edit button to apply these changes to all notes (You should be able to use just click on the add-ons icon and then just click on "Edit cards" in the window that comes up). Another solution would be to use the field syncing feature of the add-on: Fields that are marked as "frozen", i.e. persistent across multiple notes, within Anki's field configuration dialog will automatically be copied over to the add-on's very own Editor window. This is described in more detail here: github.com/glutanimate/image-occlusion-enhanced/wiki/Advanced-Use#syncing-fields-between-io-and-anki. But the gist of it is that you can add your image within Anki's note editor before clicking on IO's button, and if your note type is configured accordingly, the add-on should automatically sync that particular field with the image over.
