Image Quality Issue on Canon Varioprint 115, TTF Belt Replace

Will replacing the TTF fuser belt fix my image quality problems? Toner is not transferring to the paper. Lets find out. This would work on any of the Canon DP printers, 130, 140.

Dan, I certify technicians on this exact machine. Your copy process theory was pretty dang close. The drum is not photosensitive, however. The internal imaging circuitry can energize 7500 different tiny tracks on the drum with 40v dc, on/off at a very rapid pace. The toner supply roller coats the entire drum in toner, then the imaging (developer) roller pulls off toner where the drum hasn't energized the tracks. For this reason, the drum cleaning blade is not engaged during printing, only during drum cleaning mode. Your TTF belt theory was spot on. Side note, the magnets in the imaging roller are rare earth, and very very strong! Take careful note if you have any sort of medical heart device!

Hi Jeff, I didn't receive an answer from Dan to the question about the live time of VP image drum. I made mistake in my question mentioned about lifetime as 10-12k mentioned by technicians in LT. I had in mind 10-12 millions, not thousands. So is the life time of drum (if it's not damaged) is the same as life time of printer or 10-12 million? Thanks for an answer.

Just a note when you replace the ttf belt you should replace the counter pressure and both spiral cleaners. You also need to clean out all the transfer rollers on the ttf unit.

Man, it's been a minute since I had a Canon machine. We switched over to Ricoh about 12 years ago now and have been happy ever since. Our old ImageRunner was a beast though. Never worked on one since they bought out Oce, however. Another solid video, Dan. Thanks for sharing.

When I worked in the Print Shop, there were two people and all they did was cut paper all day long. 40 presses ran 7 hours a day with very little down time. And in your shop, all we ever see is you. What a dream in would be, if you ran the whole shop by yourself. How things have changed.

Dan, another great video on these Canon varioPRINT and maintaining them. As a co-owner of a VP6250 I am following your videos on this series with interest! My partner does most of the maintenance on ours with some of the same principles applying, however maintenance on this looks simpler as for certain things like changing the imaging belts we still have to call service with their laptop to get timing right. Keep the videos coming!

When I talk to people about fixing printers, I compare them to fixing cars, and the more cars you learn how to fix, the easier it is to just fix cars generally. Also the printers are designed like cars so that specific parts generally wear out and are meant to be replaced, like brakes and other things.

Thank you for these videos! I currently run the same Konica (AccurioPress C3070). It's under a click contract but the service provider technicians are not saavy and service mostly office copiers. I've learned so much from you and I'm grateful! If you're ever interested in short run door hangers, gift tags and other shapes cut out of cardstock, I'm have a blast using my Vulcan SC350 automated cutter. It's made to do stickers and does them incredibly well. After a few days of diving down the rabbit hole of PLT cut files and HPGL, I've successfully got it cutting cardstock all the way through. I simply edit a dieline so there are nicks to keep the 12 x 18 sheet from falling apart while being rolled back and forth through the cutter. This is so much better than standing at my flatbed cutter feeding and removing sheets. My problem is static. I've tried everything I can think of, even tinsel at the exit tray. My humidity is 32% to 40% in the print room. The sheets are so stuck together they pop and spark when pulling them apart. Fanning doesn't help. There's no way to finish them without manually feeding one sheet at a time into the Vulcan. Are you aware of a part inside the Konica that removes static and perhaps needs replacing?

Hi Dan, thanks for your videos. I bought and run used (10k) VP 115 a few months ago. Service guy told that life time of drum is 10-12k and the new drum costs ~5000EUR. In that video you said that the life time of drum of VP is the same as the l.t. of printer. As I know it's around 100k. Where from did you get that? What's the truth, life time or 10-12k?
