I really value smoothness in the moguls. It's my opinion that technique should never hurt or cause unnecessary wear and tear to the body in the long run.

This guy KNOWS how position his body to Allow his skis to do what they were designed to do! Turn! The reason he is so fluid is he is anticipating the next turn by keeping his upper body, from the hips up, in the fall line and even going in the opposite direction of the skis. In wider radius turns, when his skis turn left, his entire upper body is staying right and all he does is change the weight from one ski to the other. If his body followed his skis to the left, he would have to reposition it to make the next turn. That takes time and looks choppy. 3:25 + 6:20 Imagine there is a stool under each hip as his skis turn. He is sitting from one stool to the other. He "isn't" thinking of his skis as much as he is thinking of keeping his upper body on a strict line down the hill. Also, think of a cable from top to bottom that runs through his navel. Notice how it doesn't move left or right. For You, Skiing isn't Turning. You, go straight down the hill. The Skis turn when you change your weight. Your upper body pulls your legs over as you fall down the hill. That rolls your skis over from the edges they are on, over to the inside edge and the ski does what it was designed to do. He isn't thinking about twisting or leaning his knees to the side. he isn't thinking of his knees at all except to stay forward or back to maintain the arch or radius of the turn. He KNOWS why the ski is designed the way it is and puts his body in the position it needs to be in to ALLOW the ski to turn on it's own. You ski from the eyes and mind down, not from the skis up like 99.99% of teachers do. 9:00 Active Suspension in skiing means you can See the terrain coming at you and you suck your knees up to absorb the bump rather than have your legs get crushed when you slam into it. If he weighs 180Ibs, he weighs the same all the way down the hill rather than 180 and then 360. Study what is upper body is doing and what I have said. Forget your legs and skis except to fine tune your body forward and back and to keep your knees in line with your boot and hip. Sometimes your legs will want to bow out which will flatten your ski in the middle of the turn so you have to tuck them in a little and you will feel your edges bite better.

LoL Gibberish.... well said. @JB91710 "If Berger did a sloppy run for the fun of it, would you question his ability?". Anyone who describes their actions as having been purposely sloppy because it provided amusement and or enjoyment to them cannot be taken seriously...at all. What RB is doing is demonstrating a particular type of turn. Regardless of the accuracy of your attempt to describe what is happening, the reality is that RB is focused on the type of turn he is demonstrating, not the biomechanics of the turn. As to what he is thinking about at any one time???? 'wansin est kalt heute' ' i wish i could get a Kaiserschmarrn somewhere' I have no doubt that you both look the same when you ski and that the only person who can see that is you. If anyone ever has a lesson like that , don't quit skiing. just go to the ski school , tell them you want a refund and they will work hard to ensure you have a better experience.

Richard. I'm Proud to say, "You ski as good as I do!" That's because unlike 99.99% of skiers, you Know how to positon your body and change your weight to Allow your ski to do what it was designed to do.

"you ski as good as I do". Hilarious. And what a nerve and lack of self awareness. Just look at this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3mrZJumnpiLbqM That is you! You do not possess 2% of Richie’s skills. By the way it is "as well as I do".

@@dj_617 You determined all that from ONE 25 second run on my first day of skiing in five years on my 69th birthday? Did you bother to READ what I was demonstrating? Jealousy is a debilitating weakness in you. To bad you couldn't use all that knowledge to tell me where and how I am wrong in the comments I made about teaching techniques.

@@islandoutpost Did you READ my explanation of what I was demonstrating. I have been a World Class skier since the early 60's and mastered shaped skis the moment they arrived. It's incredible how intuitive people are after watching one 25 second run without bothering to read what that run was all about. If Berger did a sloppy run for the fun of it, would you question his ability? See the picture next to my name? That was taken in 1971 when I was 20 years old and it was the Killington poster throughout the 70's. AT 20 YEARS OLD!
