Ok, here's my explanation for the song/video: The song is about how dan(lead singer) fucked up with his parents and as he has grown older, he realizes he'd have nothing without them so he bets his entire life on what they told him because its whats gotten him this far. It's a tribute to his parents to show he's matured. Video: 1st scene (the band chilling by the lake) = looking back on his past. 2nd scene (with 2 guys) = the fight he had with his parents. 3rd scene (the current of the river) = his arrogance dragging him down. 4th scene (wakes up at home) = the values he was taught at home, saves him. 5th scene = manages to get back on track (sail the boat) with his parents advice. 6th scene (coming to waterfall but flies instead) = with parents advice, he avoids the fall and flies instead. 7th scene(everyone cheers for him, but guy pulls him out): the feeling of flying materialized into real success, but his parents advice saves him from getting lost in it. final scene = after realizing he needed his parents more than he thought, he understands now they were trying to save him all along.

Music an outlet used to express emotion and feeling in a delightful and rhythmic way. When people ask why I do not enjoy most of the rap/meaningless songs the majority of my school listens to its because I see no purpose or meaning of constant drug/gang/sex references. Now I understand we are all human and can all see different sides of stories and have our own opinions so if somebody would like to explain your meaning or purpose for the music I find toxic by all means please explain. ImCloud Not all rap is about drugs and sex and gangs, most of the time its is because its what these rappers grew up with it, poor and unprivileged they had to deal drugs to just live a better life most rap about these issues, some just talk about as a sense of pride and its part of their identity. I listen to both genres and don't call the other nonsense cause if rap truly meant nothing it wouldn't have such a strong following. Personally I'm not a fan of this song, the chorus/refrain feels like it belongs in a different song and is so grating that I'll never fully listen to the song willingly, it's too shouty that it feels tasteless and is too long. Which is my biggest issue with their work, while they do have some Gems (Radioactive, On Top of the World, Monster and Whatever it Takes), their bigger "hits" tend to fall into that trap which makes this song one of their worst (Ready Aim Fire, Natrual and Beliver are the others that I've found like this), RAF's chorus is just word vomit that doesn't even sound good, Natrual feels like they're shouting at me in an annoying way, and Believer could have been a masterpiece with that 10/10 opening if it weren't for how garbage and overly long the chorus is. I can name more Imagine Dragons songs that I don't like or consider bad than I can name ones that I consider good (this really isn't saying too much as Ed Shrean hasn't made another song that I liked before or since Shape of You), the problem is that I remember them for their glaring issues or how much of a letdown they were. I've never gotten the hype behind Imagine Dragons, they can produce some good stuff every now and then, but most of it's either meh or bad in a memorable way. I should add that I'm not against major changes to a song's flow, hell FromSoftware's composers for their games (IMO the best music composers alive, the Dark Souls 3 soundtrack is a gift from the gods) do massive changes at times that make it feel like a completly different track. The thing is that it's done in a way that feels much more natrual (usually a Natrual leadup, Ludwig's boss theme is an amazing example of this), which I ironically can't say about the ID song Natrual where it feels anything but natrual.
