I remember when I first saw this movie as a teen. It was one of the first sapphic films I'd ever seen with a happy ending. As a young lesbian, it blew my mind. Two women falling in love and living happily together without things ending in tragedy - that was a radical idea to me at the time. Growing up, I was taught that my type of love was not sustainable. That loving another woman was possible but it came with a price. As silly as this movie may be, it helped me unlearn that.

I want more lesbian love stories like this! Were no one has to die and the characters are funny and lovely, and the guy doesn't have to be a complete idiot. I can't be the only lesbian who actually enjoys watching movies like "the notebook", "ps. I love you",.... Maybe in 20 years I will get those simple, but heartwarming movies, like this one.

I remember when youtube would have full movies and as a young teenager i would watch this over and over in 2009. Was so happy to have a lgbt movie that was just romantic. No death or sad endings. Realistic.

This movie helped me so much as a confused and insecure lesbian teenager nearly 20 yrs ago. The crazy thing is that it's - to this date - still one of the better movies with a lesbian storyline. Simple, beautiful, genuine and heartwarming. I'd love a sequel. A '20 years later' movie: where do they live, how's life been, any children, ...

I just watched the movie with my mom because I wanted to come out to her... after the movie she told me it was dumb and that I clearly didnt know the ending and the outcome otherwhise why should I've bought the dvd.... I'm sad now :( I loved the movie... And my mom is so clueless... I mean I met with a girl I met online like five times and I have two rainbows on my wall but maybe she just dont want to see it... :( I've had a boyfriend for almost three years and I broke up with him in april... I think she is still not over him^^

When I was in my early 20s, having come out at 18, but then having a gf for 2 years, my Mum would sometimes watch Queer as Folk with me. Dad too, but understandably he was more uncomfortable. Even I was uncomfortable at times, alot of the plot points didn't represent me at that age. Anyway, it was strange... my Mum would make small comments about a guy having a 'nice bum' or being 'handsome', seeming not to really notice all the male-dominated action, but as soon as the lesbians would kiss or start getting heavy, she'd have a stronger reaction and say 'yuck' or 'that's disgusting'. The reason I'm replying to your comment, is to say (in a long, drawn out way) that parents deal with it in different ways and at different times. My follow-up point to that is: it's different when it's THEIR child. So while your Mother may have reacted negatively to the movie, she may also be mortified to realise, (1) her own ignorance; and (2) how deeply it saddened you. Of course not all parents take coming-out news well and certainly you shouldn't do it if there's any chance of you being harmed or kicked out of home/cut off financially before you're stable. But if you're ready and in a good place, go for it. Maybe have a friend or two on standby to chat with afterwards, to share the good news or support you if the intiial reaction doesn't go well. I highly recommend you watch the moving documentary 'For the Bible Tells Me So' whether you have a religious upbringing or not (kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5ulg2OappWLjs0). All the best!!~♡♡

Love Coop! Just not in a gay way. This is one of my fav rom-coms. I like all the characters in it and the story, and how Hec wasn't shown as some a-hole. He was simply a great guy. Only wish it was twenty min longer, they showed more with Luce's friend and they had the main song theme threaded more into it. Need moar lesbian rom-coms!
