Thank you for sharing!!!! Laraine Centineo paints wonderful wax paper ribbons in a pretty particular way, and also glues two pieces of wax paper to create special effects. Very worth to watch!

What? How does someone give a thumbs down to someone's creative play? Certainly haters that have no creative ingenuity, a very dull imagination and are consumed with jealousy. As for me, Suzi, I L*O*V*E this project and have done several, but I'm back for a little refresher. Thanks for sharing! and *hugs*

I don't journal, but I think this would make a lovely wall hanging like in a pretty frame if you put a different colors and such in it. What are some other things that you can do with them other than journal?
@SuziDennis8 жыл бұрын
+Easterg Griffee Not sure. I use them for journal pages and yes you could frame and hang. Too thick really for the kind of collage I do but I'm sure there are those who use thick papers for collage so it would do for that.

I'm gonna make a faux midori travelers notebook, using this for the actual "leather". Thank you sharing. This is gonna be fun!🎨

It's a wax paper sammich. I'm feeling it with my mind, I can tell it's fabulous! Do you think they would be sturdy enough to sew through? Ya know, fold each page in half to make signatures for an artist book or something?
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
I think it would depend on how thick you make them. Also, I'm making some with fabric centers among other things and those would do fine. You know the drill....experiment experiment :)
@wakar112210 жыл бұрын
Maybe add a layer of rice paper in between also? I wonder how it would hold up as a book cover. I have some natural brown wax paper I'm going to try out.

Hi Suzi. Remember how my abstract sort of sheet came out using your technique, a while back? It reminds me of that, similar finish to it. Ive saved this to my Suzi folder too. Love how you experiment and have fun too. Love and hugs Tibs xxx

Thanks Tibs and good to hear from you. Yes, I do remember that sheet :) Experimenting and not being uptight about it all is what it's about! Cool that you have a "Suzi" folder!!!

Looks interesting. Have you thought of how you will use it? If you have please share. I was thinking it would make a nice journal cover but how would you attach it?

Most of my papers go into my journals and I'm sure this one has already or will be. I attach most everything with Alene's Super Thick Tacky Glue.

I love your painting! Can you tell me what kind of paints you are using, let's say in video: Tissue paper layering? Do you use all different paints? I would so appreciate your answer!!! Blessings!
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Paints....well, I use a lot of different ones....It depends entirely on what color I like and how they lay down. Have some Golden fluids I like and some Liquitex and some Folk Art and americana. I like a combo of transparents and Opaques. Recently I have fallen in love with Nova Color paints. They are awesome...colors and the way they lay down on the paper. I do feel it is something that is an individual preference and must be experimented with. That is why I tell people taking my workshops to bring the paints they feel comfortable with. In my Studio workshop, I often wind up recommending some of mine to them AND I wind up learning about new ones they have that I get to try. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.

Luv the idea of this technique! I like the look & possibilities of it. I can imagine the feel, but...I want to feel it first hand! ;) Must try this! Is the modpodge watered down or straight from the jar? Thx! Love the share. ~ Terry Y.
@SuziDennis7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Terry! Yes watered down. I rarely use mod podge straight from the jar. It does have a wonderful "leathery" feel. Have fun!

Great effect Suzi. I have made some of these, but what do you do with them afterwards?
@SuziDennis8 жыл бұрын
I use them in journals Tracey. You could actually make an image and frame it. use your imagination :)

Tracey, I want to tell you that for some reason your comments on You tube are not coming to my email like all others do. I get a notice on my phone but not on email. I say this so you will know that I may miss some of your comments so don't think I am ignoring you :)

I Love this idea, just want to make sure I understand! you are using regular wax paper bought at grocery store, correct? The freezer paper, is this also bought at grocery store?
@SuziDennis8 жыл бұрын
Yes Ma'am. Regular grocery store bought wax paper and freezer paper. :) Have fun!
@roxyfur10 жыл бұрын
very cool, I'm assuming you let the mod podge and paint dry between coats?
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
I thought I posted that on there. I laid down wax paper, other papers, paint, etc. at one time, then let dry completely before adding the last layer of wax paper. You can probably do the whole sandwich and then let dry, this is just the way I did this one. experiment! That's the name of the game :) Thanks for watching.
@roxyfur10 жыл бұрын
Suzi Dennis I caught that part but wonder if you let things dry while making it, the video speed doesn't show it. :)
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
roxyfur On this one, no. Just where I made a note, but you could but when you do, other things might occur with the paint, which is not a bad thing...just a different outcome. When I do this or tissue layering either one, I do them all different ways. The important part is to let it all dry completely before pealing in off the freezer paper. Hope I'm answering your question. Thanks
@roxyfur10 жыл бұрын
Suzi Dennis Yes, thank you so much! I would have a hot mess if I tried to mix paints like you did. :)
@PeachyOutlook9 жыл бұрын
Great idea - when you finish the papers do you use them in a journal or other projects?
@SuziDennis9 жыл бұрын
+Peachy Outlook Thanks Peachy :) Yes, mostly Journals. If you do heavy paper collages you could use there, but I don't so my main goal is to use them in my journal making. tfw
@PeachyOutlook9 жыл бұрын
thankyou journals was the plan :)
@scobbydotwo10 жыл бұрын
This is a great video. Have you ever tried, using the same process in the video but, used "used" dryer sheets? It has an amazing finish also and works great for mixed media.
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
Thanks scobbydotwo! No I haven't and I have been asked that question before. I don't use dryer sheets in my dryer so don't ever have any to try it :) Oh well, I guess somethings do have to go untried in life. Pooie :)
@morokiya558 жыл бұрын
hi, what can replace freezer paper? I can't get freezer paper in my country. thank you. loved the idea.
@SuziDennis8 жыл бұрын
i don't know. It has to be a surface that paint, etc. won't stick permanently to but stick enough to do the piece then peel off. I use freeze paper so much. Can you not order it from amazon? I don't know where you are...
@morokiya558 жыл бұрын
Suzi Dennis thank you. I am from Singapore.
@GrumpetteJV7 жыл бұрын
A silicone cookie sheet might work! xx
@SuziDennis7 жыл бұрын
The problem with that as I see it....having actually done this process.....is that it won't stick at all. It temporarily sticks to the freezer paper and then can be peeled off. That is what makes is work. It can be tried, but I think you wouldn't have different results. Who knows :)
@morokiya557 жыл бұрын
Suzi Dennis thank you. I will try. thank you for your precious time.
@zoilarivera886610 жыл бұрын
Great idea.....love the chime bells at the end :). Do you think I can use this wax paper for book cover so I can put holes in them and sew thread thru and make like a journal? TFS :)
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Zoila! Watch my next video "Part 2". I talk about that and other things. Thanks for watching :)
@minders7810 жыл бұрын
Does the wax paper release from the painted paper parts?
@SuziDennis10 жыл бұрын
Not if you do it right. Be sure to Mod Podge both sides and I think using the brayer to press it all together helps too and let it dry completely. I've not had any problems. Remember, the painted papers are sealed in between two layers of wax paper. Experiment. That is what it takes.
@laurathurston47577 жыл бұрын
