Ok assuming what the goblin tells us is true, I think the orb was never lost in the first place. I think Hizuki just got it when she was little and stored the orb inside her soul, like the Goblin did with the crown. but because she was little and her father being dead, she just didn't know how to take it out again. eventually she forgot about it due to child amnesia. that is also why the orb seems to be near but noone knows where exactly. at the start of the schoolarc, we also got a lecture about souls from Meg, so that has to be important somehow. Hard to tell on who is more trustworthy. the goblin is certainly more open and willing to share. it could even be possible that both mean well for Hizuki in their own way.
