People used to have to register their dogs, but for some reason they scrapped it. I think they should bring it back. Yes it was a hassle, but now we have the internet, surely online registration would make things quicker and easier for people to do

If they have to ban the breed, fine. But I don't think it is fair to kill existing dogs who have done nothing wrong.

That’s a risk with most larger dogs tbh. But it’s not always inherent - lineage (nature) does have an passive(?) impact, but how it was raised (nuture) often has more active influence. Moreso a bigger risk with medium to large working breed dogs that are more prone to becoming neurotic; australian shepards, german shepards, rotties, dobermans etc. If people weaponize a breed based on what it was initially bred to do, there will always be problems.

It's actually sad to see that this is happening in the UK. I live in Australia and they are honestly some of the sweetest dogs i know. They're only a real issue when owners purchase or adopt bullies for their "scary looks" or when theyre used for dog fighting; not to mention, the lack of research and training before purchasing the breed. It's a shame that this is the path they have chosen over there.

I’m Australian and we already have bans and restrictions on these breeds. People often lie about what breed their dog is to get around that stuff, but at least in Queensland there’s restrictions. I assumed it was Australia-wide but I’d have to look into it more

Looked into it a bit more just now and XL bullies aren’t on the list but also aren’t necessarily a recognised breed. I thought they were basically a subtype of the American pitbull, which is banned from importation and subject to restrictions in Australia. You’re supposed to apply for approval before getting one, they must be desexed and registered, you’re supposed to put approved warning signs up at entrances to your property, and the dogs are supposed to be muzzled on a short lead at all times in public. People don’t do any of that but it’s technically what the law says.

I can’t edit my reply but I want to make it clear I now know XL bullies aren’t pitbulls, but are basically a pitbull mix. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they get added to our restricted breeds list too tbh but I’m unsure whether they’re a recognised breed and how that impacts our legislation.

Xl bullie owners are under alot stress with everything that's going on. All the 💩 owners are dumping them everyday, rescues are full or not taking anymore in. All the xl bullie left in the rescues after a certain date are going to destroyed i love how they don't say how it is they will be murdered.
