Because Imam Mahdi is more more known in the shia sect than the sunni. Once Salman al-Farisi came to see the Prophet when the latter had Husayn in his lap. The Prophet was kissing Husayn's face and mouth and was saying: You are the master and the son and brother of the master. You are the Imam, son and brother of the Imam. Your are the proof and son and brother of the proof of God's existence. You are the father of nine proofs of God, the nineth among whom will be the Qa'im. Yanabi' al-mawadda, Vol. 1, p. 492. Now you can research the 9 sons of descendants of imam Hussain, who became imams one after the other, , which I'm sure you can easily find easily and also search the mother of the Imam Mohammad Baqir, alahi salaam. The 5th Imam in Shia Islam. He mother was the daughter of Imam Hassan.

Not all the details of the religion were mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, how did we know fajr prayer was 2 rakaas and thuhr, asr and isha' were 4 rakaas, maghrib was 3 rakaas! God said in the Qur'an what it means follow the messenger by doing what he orders and restrain from what he forbids! And this is about the hadeeth! The scholars of hadeeth mentioned that the narrations about the appearance of mahdiyy reached the level of mutawatir! Witch is the highest form of narrations!
