Imamsuat (People of the Sea) is a multi-generational group of Sugpiaq (Alutiiq) people from the Alaska and Lower Kenai Peninsulas, Kodiak and Afognak Islands. Members of the group are also from the Inupiaq culture of the Bering Sea. The group was formed to preserve and promote Sugpiat culture through dance, song, and stage performances and to educate the world about our people, values, and traditions. Member of Imamsuat also hope to preserve family stories, history, and songs. Imamsuat has danced in locations from Boulogne sur Mer, France - at the Chateau Musée, Quyana Night - at the Alaska Federation of Native, to Honolulu Hawaii.
This performance took place on January 19, 2013 as part of the Out of Many multicultural festival of music, dance, and story.
