I don’t think anyone really cares about that IMDb score, because the review bombing is so obvious and nobody pays any attention to IMDb scores anyway - apart from the small group of morons doing the review bombing. Why? That is easy. Her character is a teenager, a woman and the most important thing, from another culture - a muslima. In other words, a wealth of prejudices in people's minds. This puts off many male viewers in particular. Especially since she's not Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel now, but rather the nerd. It's very sad because the series really fantastic and the actors shine with their performances. Yes, the series is more for younger viewers and different from what we have seen so far. That's what makes it so refreshing for the MCU.

I don't want to nitpick, but Ms. Marvel was not Marvel's first Muslim superhero. That would be Prince Abdul Qamar, aka the Arabian Knight, who debuted in Incredible Hulk #250 (May, 1980). He found a mystical sword, sash, and carpet that had belonged to his 13th century ancestor and used them to become the protector of Saudi Arabia. He was a bit silly in concept, but was presented seriously, and was a Muslim as written. But he wasn't featured often and it's perfectly understandable that most modern fans don't remember him.
