The opponent helped the saddle entry. He literally moved the left leg into the triangle. Everything about this video confuses me other than the great entry 😅 I'll just assume he was takin off guard by a slick move and panicked. I watched it back 3-4 times and he had lots of time to c grip the knee, turn away, and kick out. I'm confused because if the reap is allowed I have to assume these 2 guys are high level. Anyways, came across this when looking at imanari roll breakdowns. This video confirms its legitimacy. Nice work

@hc87715 жыл бұрын
Crossing his ankles over and compressing the achilles is a reap??
@MrMrMcguinness5 жыл бұрын
From my limited understanding of what happened (and the ibjjf rules!) that looked more like a kani basami than the typical iminari roll takedown ie an inversion into scissor sweep. Typically the iminari roll has the upper leg in the saddle position before the sweep is followed through. Under ibjjf the technique in the video is immediate DQ. However if the upper leg was in the saddle position before the sweep then the takedown would be fine. When you're in saddle however you can't attack the trapped leg under ibjjf, the far one is free game though. A bit convoluted but I think that's what the unofficial line is
@jwgacademy5 жыл бұрын
Yes immediate DQ

If you think you are tougher than an ankle lock or heel hook.. you would be in for a rude awakening
@UltimateEdgeLord.4.2.0.6.9.3 жыл бұрын
@@mattdoyle1442 if someone does this, all you would have to do is step backwards and stomp them in the head while they sprawl around on the ground like a confused slug :/ this technique can be useful potentially, but this is NOT an effective move for 99% of physical altercations.
@mattdoyle14423 жыл бұрын
Just step backwards and hit them. What a solid strategy. I wonder why anybody who has ever been taken down or had their legs attacked didn’t think of that. If the attacker gets control of the leg, they extend their hips so the defender can’t foot fight. If they miss the leg, they can roll to another open guard or stand up. My guess is you’ve never had a leg locker attached to your leg. Not much you can do once extended.
@UltimateEdgeLord.4.2.0.6.9.3 жыл бұрын
@@mattdoyle1442 these bouts rely almost entirely on locking and wrestling exclusively. It doesn't take into account striking, or the vast array of things that can occur in an actual fight without limitations placed. This move has the potential to be useful, but you would be an absolute fool to attempt this roll in a street fight. :/
