That’s actually something my therapist even struggles with, in free time feeling like you can do something more productive, and as such it’s hard to relax. The work incentive on twitch does promote an unhealthy lifestyle, but that part isn’t focused on due to the rewards. Always always don’t be afraid to take off days, because sometimes doing nothing is better for yourself than doing something.

I really liked the chat at the end, felt like you were sitting down with a friend at a quiet cafe catching up on life and sharing your thoughts about things that are happening to you. Being in my mid-late 20's (scary I know) comes with a pressure to always be working, doing the next thing, and yet feeling like I never get ahead. I cannot imagine what people younger than me feel like, graduating high school and seeing people become 'successful' before 20. You talking about work-life balance is very important. While the grind and working for yourself and your future is important, there is a balance that is needed. Please keep up these vlogs! You having a podcast talking about some of these things might be really cool too

I actually love it when streamers talk about real shit, I think it’s really important for streamers and content creators to do. I can’t relate to how things would work out logistically with managers and all that, but I know that I and a lot of the viewers support this kind of content.

I loved the words at the end. Hustle mentality is engrained in society, especially in the US, to an unhealthy degree. When you have a job that people view as easy (I'm saying this as a graphic designer/social media marketing person for corps who also streams after work) you tend to feel more pressure to work more to prove that you are a hard worker and deserve the income you earn. Plus, more work = more money, more portfolio pieces, better performance reviews etc. But you're right, what's important in life is not work, it's taking care of your happiness. And that sometimes means putting the work down and just cleaning your house or making dinner instead of saying you don't have time to do those things. I'm still working on finding a good balance myself, but I really think this is a powerful message for young people, especially coming from someone who is as successful as you. Sleep in, read a book, spend time with someone or something you love and just enjoy your life for a second. If nothing else, it's good motivation to make retirement as great as you can make it.

i personally loved hearing what u had to say about the twitch community / the job as a whole. i agree with everything u said. people on twitch often praise others for overworking themselves without even realising it. taking time for yourself is super important & i’m glad u recognise that

i really appreciate that your willing to share your thoughts and what goes on inside, your more than just a twitch icon and role model to many young people. your human, you have fears and off days and times where you just need to breathe and lay in the sun and read and have mimi be the queen that she is. Thank you for sharing your 1 of many thoughts and being bold enough to speak your truth. i cant wait for more Imane moments like this! thank you for showing us this side of you. take care of yourself always.

The whole part at 10:30 where you talk about how streaming isn't mentally stimulating, that just feels wrong, I don't even know why. Like that's not exclusive to streaming, or any job in particular, I can't imagine some guy filling excell sheets all day feels particularly stimulated. The problem is people focusing too much on the wrong things like work, not that the work in question is Twitch
@pif5023
@pif5023 3 жыл бұрын
I think she is referring more to the fact that she has to overreact to things in order to convey them to the viewers. I kinda agree with her, while she is streaming she cannot silently process the natural emotions because she needs to make things engaging for the viewer (embellishing if you know art terms). Would you watch a person staring silently for 8 hrs at the monitor? Regarding the mental stimulation you may be right, but still I could argue that to fill those excel sheets some business discussion must have happened in which they talk about something more concrete than a few pixel doing things with no meaning. But yeah, I can also agree that there are worse jobs in that regard.

Thank you Imane for your transparency! That is one of the issues I’ve been heavily trying to stress on! We need more people such as yourself to open up about these aspects so everyone in general can live a slightly less stressful life. It’s a topic many people seem to tip toe around and I feel like we all know it almost MUST be talked upon. So thank you for taking that step forward! Hopefully it encourages others to do the same! Keep it positive!😁🤙🏻🌎

HARD agree on the culture of streaming, I'm a small streamer (50-60 avg viewers) but the pressure is already there to do THE MOST, streaming turns into a job and no one should be pressured into working too many hours, considering we also work on our stream while offline and THEN when we have a day off we get the fear of losing people and jealousy of our peers who stream everyday or longer than us. I want to be chill and I don't like feeling guilty for having alone/me/offline time. People always hype 12+ hours streams/subathons so much and I dread doing anything for that long out of fear of not pleasing people. We should encourage healthy lifestyles for the streamers we watch considering we like them and should want them to be happy.

Work culture in US is already kind of fup and I think online jobs (as a new field) has more pressure than others to bee even more unhealthy for you. And it sucks! I really hope that the younger generation don't make the same mistakes and stop to think why they are working in the first place.

Honestly I like hearing Poki's unfiltered thoughts. I have noticed in videos and streams that she seems super censored and it kinda concerns me. I just want the girl to be able to speak freely. But I understand that sometimes that's not the smartest thing considering how sponsors, commenters, and people on Twitter react. I like seeing a more open Poki like in this vid. It's a nice change of pace.
