We always called it "The Farrah Flip". I've also heard it called the anti gravity cut. It was made famous from the late legendary Charlie's Angel Farrah Fawcett. Nice job on locs. Very pretty. Us girls that didn't have the natural volume used a hairspray called AquaNet. Get a roller brush and spray AquaNet so your hair would stay up.

Jaclyn Smiths was more like yours. She didn’t have the volume upfront but did the flips to the sides. Both were in Charlies Angels where these styles were made popular in the 70’s. It’s funny watching kids revisit styles of hair and clothing that were popular when I was growing up. My mother still wears her hair with flipped up bangs and sides. 😂
@Oonagh722 жыл бұрын
The style is called the Farrah Fawcett. I wore my hair like that in the early 80’s. (It was relaxed and I was like 10). What is funny is all that head flipping isn’t required. Just had to come the hair back and push it forward. There is another way to do it with a comb flip, but I can’t explain it.

Ur hair is so pretty but does it take long to retwist since they’re micro?
@fatherfemi76412 жыл бұрын
with most microlocs, we retie, not retwist. it lasts longer, so we don’t do it as often which means the time it takes to do it is worth it. and how long the reties take depends on your experience level. so a professional could retie 500+ locs in under 2 hours, whereas i can retie my 287 locs in 12 hours split in two days. (ik someone who has 500 and it takes her 5hours)
@ericawillis75753 жыл бұрын
Do you have any advice on how to make a re-tie last longer? My hair tends to look really fuzzy around the edges and top really quickly.
@ImaniGoodridge3 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are washing your hair before you retighten. And also don't apply oil to your scalp until 2-3 days after the retightening to make sure it's settled. If you need to oil your scalp, try to do it 2 days prior to retightening :)

I literally dont know where all you ladies with locs have been... you're telling me y'all didn't know to curl your locs you simply use perm rollers or flexi rods while your locs are damp?!?!....like...Wow ..well i'm glad y'all all learned now we can all walk around with pretty locs! I have sister lics too, but i ised to have regular locs...IN CASE YOU DIDNT KNOW, you can donthis style wirh rollers or flexi rods on thicker locs too...Wow ladies.. Wow!
@ImaniGoodridge Жыл бұрын
Just something to consider. Lots of people do not find perm rods/rollers, flexi rods, etc. comfortable. The thick plastic makes them less pliable/not ideal for sleeping (a reality of many with those who have longer locs or prefer to only air dry). Not only are the pillow satin rollers more mailable, they’re also a lot lighter in weight which make them more ideal for the listed reasons. They’re also a lot gentler on your hair and cause less tension at the root. Less tension is preferred for people who may have finer hair, thinner locs, struggle with hair loss, etc. It’s not that people don’t know HOW to achieve these looks with more traditional methods. Rather, this video & many like the ones I post are made to give people options. Especially if more traditional methods are not ideal for their lifestyle or hair care needs.

Do you think this will work on regular size locs ?
@ImaniGoodridge2 жыл бұрын
I do! I'd just say make sure you don't take the curlers out until your hair is fully dry. It might not last as long as smaller locs (my curls lasted 1-2 weeks) because of the weight longer and/or thicker locs hold. But you should be able to get a few days of wear. It never hurts to try! :)

Love this but I'd never be able to do it. My sisterlocks are about 36" now. Any ideas on how to curl when that long so that the curls last longer than 5 minutes?! I'm thinking setting lotion and a few days under a dryer maybe?! LOL!!! I just feel like if I use regular rollers they'll *never* get completely dry because of the thickness of the roller set.
@ImaniGoodridge2 жыл бұрын
Once me and my mom figure it out, I'll definitely make a video! We've tried setting lotions, mousse, etc. on her 37" long hair and have come into the same issue you're having with curl longevity!
@violettepetals9931 Жыл бұрын
have you tired "barrel curls" or "loc knots "? it doesn't require the use of rollers or anything. you basically twist your locs around each other in a certain way. it's comfortable to sleep on too. they make a cute shorter hair style so you can wear it outside if you like it. i usually wear mine that way for a week and then undo it and the curls last until i'm ready to wash my hair... or end up getting caught in a downpour of rain😅 i learned how to do them here on youtube
@Jendayi7 Жыл бұрын
@@violettepetals9931 Hmm… I’ve never tried those. I’ll have to look them up. Even back when my hair was only waist length, I still had to use LottaBody on my Sisterlocks to get them to hold a curl for any decent length of time. I used Jheri curl rods back then and I was curly all over. I had to sit under the dryer for a minimum of 3 hours, though, to completely dry. But when I did, my curls lasted for weeks! Over time they would just stretch and become more wavy looking. Without setting lotion, though, my curls would barely last 48 hours. But *now,* that process is out of the question. My locs are to my knees and it would just be too much hair on that itty bitty rod to *ever* completely dry. I’ll check out the “barrel curls” and “loc knots” though to see if I can find any success in them. I do love my locs but I definitely miss my “big hair.”
