Even though the temperature of that foil is actually 500 degrees, it takes less actual heat energy to raise the aluminum foil's temperature. Making a spaceship out of water sounds pretty cool, but if your objective is just to slow heat transfer, then the tiles they put on the bottom of shuttles do just that. Fun fact: "Wonder Bread" burnt in the absence of oxygen also slows heat transfer substantially. Also, there's this thing called Aerogel you can buy.
