Lester you’re a fantastic farmer Dad to your farm children! I know that you care as much for your animals that you care for your own children. Geese generally do quite well in Winter, but you have to watch their beaks for frostbite. We have a couple hundred, and they shelter in the barn on cold Winter nights, but are generally out and about during the day. We give them extra mealworms during the Winter months. Make sure they have access to water if their water bowls freeze over because they have trouble swallowing without water, and I’ve had to unplug feed from geese nostrils more times than I ever wanted to.

You can build a shelter house or even put a large dog box out by the pond with hay or bedding inside and the geese and duck's will go in when it's cold or storming. You'll probably have to put a couple different ones out...1 for ducks 1 for geese... Just a suggestion. Sending prayers and well wishes through this cold spell...

Talk about “pigs in pig heaven”! Awe, Petunia’s place looks good. The heat might bother her ‘pink girl’ complexion. She is soooo sweet. You and those geese!!!! So happy you had all that extra hay. You take such good care of those babies. Horses will stay worm as long as you keep hay available for them to eat. You probably know horses need to eat every 4-6 hours to keep them warm. I always had a large coop with a door for my 3 ducks, 2 geese, 2 hens and my Tom turkey to go into every night to keep them safe and also during winter when we got several feet of snow! I filled it with straw and they seemed to like being together. Even when my hens would roost in the trees, I'd called their names and they would fly down to go into their house for the night. (I was overly protective!!). Lester, you did a great job of weatherization for all the babies. Love, prayers & hugs from cold, snowy Pa. 💙🙏🙏🙏💙 😘♥️😘

You have done very well to protect all of them. Smart doing what you are. Most birds are able to use their "down" feathers to insulate them. Layers of air caught are able to keep toasty warm. You are right about the little critters with bedding and again layers of air are warm.

The ducks here in Indiana handle the winter snow just fine! They will still go out on the water. How thoughtful of you to put some hay down for them though❤️ the love for your animals comes shining through❤️ I just love winter

All our ducks, geese, chickens, turkey, Guinea all been trained to go in at night. So every night we shut them in and in the morning we let them out but we keep the door open with the heaters going in the winter. And here in wisconsin we getting around -10° right now and they seem to do just fine.

Aww it’s so sweet seeing you making sure all your babies have places to go to stay warm when it gets cold. In the wintertime I put blankets on my horses, it also kept them semi dry.
